Read the negative reviews and I got to say they are harsh but fair. The content added by this DLC is certainly over priced. Apart from the price though is it is refreshing and fun so for now just save you're money and wait for this to go on sale.. I had fun, I wish it had a little more content to it though. Finished the Risky mode in only a few hours.. I've beaten all their Steam versions several times and they are so worth paying for. But this DLC? By the time I'm writing this, the DLC costs 10u20ac. I'm pointing that because I am expecting them to lower the price FOR SURE. For now this DLC is a scam in terms of content/price. Before I start, let me say that this DLC was free for backers. Backers who have already paid less for the base game than I did. Now I've paid TEN ADDITIONAL EUROS, which is literally half the price of the full game. I'm not saying that backers don't need credit but honestly, I didn't even know about Shantae's kickstarter before it ended the fund. I feel kinda unfairly "punished", not because they had all these benefits, but because you're charging me SO MUCH for the content. Everything that needs to be said is in the thread I posted above but I'll try to make a brief summary: - Exactly the same game as Shantae. Same zones, same paths, same bosses (except the last one obviously), everything. They only have had few modifications to adapt to Risky's gameplay, but overall trust me: it will feel like you're doing another run of the game. The same game. - Risky's gameplay is fun, more than Shantae's, but it adds nothing new to the franchise as it is super similar to what we had at Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. The 10u20ac charge can't come for this. - Very few unremarkable new enemies. The rest remains the same. - How the hell are you putting the exact same bosses? You fight the mermaid waifu because apparently Techo Baron has captured her again . Are you serious? - The total time of gameplay is around 2h, or even less. And yes, you will speedrun it because there is nothing new to explore. You already know the map, so you won't lose time looking at every corner. Seriously don't expect new content, there's NONE. - More DLCs are in the way, with probably the same concept. is WayForward expecting us to pay 50-60u20ac in total? In my opinion, this isn't even the best Shantae game (please pay Shantae and the Pirate's Curse). Since when did WF have these kind of AAA company policies? I'm serious, words fail to express my disappointment. So yeah, overall the DLC is worth 5u20ac AT MOST. If you paid 10u20ac for it and felt it was worthy, then congratulations, you're a blind fanboy/girl, because there's no way you can't be disappointed with it. Still love to you WF, but please fire the person who came with this project. Or it's gonna kill your reputation eventually.. Holy resused content.. Pirate Queen Quest DLC u02d0riskylaughu02d0 u2b50u2b50u2b50u26abu26ab I adored Shantae: Half Genie Hero and when Pirate Queens Quest DLC came out I went straight into it completely aware that the story would follow the same worlds and bosses as the main route whilst featuring the villain; Risky Boots. u02d0shantaeshyu02d0 Pros ud83dudc93 Slide across the floor move to go quicker like Shantaes Backdash. ud83dudc93 Start at any level you want instead of unlocking them. (Can quick travel to any of the areas instead of going in to area 1 and Warp Dancing to the next and next and next) ud83dudc93 New Monsters, animations, food and Riskys bubble bath! ud83dudc93 Quick and easy to use item switching compared to Shantaes transformations. ud83dudc93 No need to grind 999 gems for shampoo, all items and health can be upgraded each for just 1 Dark Magic found. ud83dudc93 Cristina Vee returns with more talented voices in game. u02d0shantaeannoyu02d0 Cons ud83dudc94 Little change in levels and nearly no changes in boss fights from main game route. ud83dudc94 Upgrading Ammo Strap and Seeker will make nearly every boss a "stand in corner and spam". ud83dudc94 Grappling Hooking to dangling rings sometimes causes Risky to get stuck. ud83dudc94 Clicking your cancel button when choosing a World will be considered as a "Yes". ud83dudc94 Artwork for finishing game a little too similar to one another apart from small edits. ud83dudc94 Very limited interactions with her hub world being, well, her bathroom. Should I Buy It? u2714ufe0f I would recommend getting the game as playing as Risky Boots was a ton of fun and her hilarious dialouge made it worth it. However if it being too short annoys you and you want a bigger story, different bosses and Riskys moveset then I would recommend buying Shantae and the Pirates Curse instead.. It's almost the same maps with minor change of quest and monster. No dancing or shaking boobies (lol). Very short story telling. It likes playing Shantae with alternative mode. I don't recommend if you're looking for more challenge from this DLC for almost the same price of main game. It's OK to buy for cheer developer up, and It's still fun.. I finally got to play one of the infamous Shantae's Half Genie Hero DLCs! After playing Shantae and the Pirate's Curse I was really curious how risky would play in her own game, given that toolkit allowed by her weapons was pretty great! And I liked her as character!. .But. not like this. Pros: Risky is finally playable , and her toolkit is great and nice to use! The game at first makes a decent challenge with interesting enemies placement and freedom of choice of where to go first. Cons: .but the challenge is quickly lost . It quickly becomes apparent that the stages were not designed with Risky's toolkit in mind , thanks to which most of the challenges are quickly effortlessly skippable with upgraded hat. Recycling. Almost everything is recycled. Stages are basically the same as in orignal game, with very minor modifications - mostly enemy placements or small adjustments to make for that fact that Risky do not have certian Shantae's ability. Even almost all bosses are recycled! if it wasn't enough, Last boss, the only original one, is almost a copy of a boss from a previous installment too. The story is barebones - it could be described in maybe 10 sentences.? Which is a large disappointment. I hoped for more interesting PoV of Risky, especially given that she got something of a depth in her character development after Pirate's Curse game. The DLC is too short. I fully completed the game (as in all achievements) in around 2 and a half hour, without using any guide. I wouldn't mind this if it was something fresh and original, but given how much of the game is recycled, I find this unacceptable. I do not expect brand new second Shantae game with Risky as protagonist, but I'd much rather get smaller piece of fresh content, like, one or two larger stages that could be completed in an hour, hour and a half, that are completely new and suited for RIsky, than having not only a short game, but made of only recycled and unoriginal content. With that being said, if I had to give number score to this DLC, it would be 4/10 . Technically the game is okay. It's not the worst game ever, and there aren't any major bugs. But. the fun also isn't really there. Stages aren't made with Risky's toolkit in mind, and it quickly shows, with how easily the upgraded hat makes most of the obstacles easily skippable. Playing this DLC makes me wonder, what is the fuss about Ultimate Edition - this DLC is pretty bland and bad, and reading reviews for the other two, it doesn't seem that they are any better. I personally believe that it's product that, unlike original Half-Genie Hero game, is not a labour of love, but labour of necessity (aka promises for reaching certain kickstarter goals).
