When to Seek Help For a 3-4 Year Old's Behavior

Raising a strong tempered child can be challenging. Tantrums and  Brain C-13 Review  aggression are a normal part of a 3-4 year olds development, but how to you know when it is more than that? Are their signs to look for when your child is out of control to decide if it is more than just a behavioral problem?

There are actually a few things you can look for to see if you should get help from a mental health professional. First of all a 3-4 year old will have tantrums, but if they are excessive such as lasting more than 10 minutes, and if they happen frequently it would be a good idea to call your child's doctor. Also if their tantrums often lead to total loss of control, your child may need help. At age 4 tantrums should start to phase out, so if they are still having them regularly, it may be a sign that something more is going on.

Another indication that you should get some help for your child is if you see any sudden changes in their behavior or any physical symptoms. If they suddenly have trouble sleeping or get headaches, there could be an underlying problem leading to a behavior issue. If you see any of these indicators, you should talk to a doctor or a mental health professional.

Some aggressiveness is also normal. Just be sure to watch for sign of using this type of behavior to hurt people or destroy things. This could be an indication of an emotional problem.

You should also rely on your motherly "instinct". If you think that something is wrong, seek help. You know your child best, and if their tantrums or aggression are more severe or happen more frequently than you think they should, it may be a sign of ADHD or oppositional defiance.
