About This Game

The Tape is a first person horror game, with found footage stylization, slow pace and creepy atmosphere.
The game relies mostly on creating heavy atmosphere, instead of a cheap jump scares. Some of the scenes you are witnessing in this game are the most disturbing in horror game history.

The game tells story of middle-aged detective, who is tasked with search of a young girl, missing in US suburbia. He travels to abandoned house to check some of his clues and reveals things so horrifying, that it make him question his own sanity.

I wish there was a faster walking/sprint option.
- I wish I could turn the intro subtitles off.
- I wish the voice acting was better.
- I wish there was an option in between the "heavy" and "low" tape effects.
- I wish the jumpscares/sounds were better.
- I wish there was some kind of notification if you got to a checkpoint or saving spot.
- I wish the death scene(s) of your character were better than a fading-to-black screen.
- I wish you could change the resolution in-game so I didn't have to restart it to make sure it worked right.. This is game with unique graphic look, scary and disturbing spooky walking simulator. Short game with depressive atmosphere, for fans of horror games. It's worth buying it.. This game is too dark.. and colours are very weired... The Tape is $3.99 currently. I'd say that price point is appropriate as the game is severly limited in length and the graphics are on par with a lot of these indie niche horror titles I've been playing lately (low-mediium).

However I did get a few good scares out of it and some scenes were disturbing enough to have made for an entertaining livestream. It is definitely slow to start but when it amps up it amps up HARD. My god.

So, if you have realistic or no expectations go ahead and drop half the cost of a sandwich on The Tape and play it with friends watching. :). Doesn't seem like a game. Just move around until a cutscene plays.. This game does show potential and is not that bad, but it is not worth 3.99. I got the game for about 50 cents so wait for a sale. 6.5/10 not bad. Cool, scary, bonus maps better than story, Forest mode to hard.
