About This Game

Alice VR is a story-driven exploration game rich with puzzles and designed to be a singular VR adventure. Game is inspired by the famous Lewis Carroll's novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", taking its characters and themes to a new science-fiction setting. Enjoy beautiful graphics, atmospheric, electronic soundtrack and lose yourself in the world of Alice VR.

An unexpected malfunction forces your ship’s AI to wake you from the cryo sleep. You have to make an emergency landing on the nearby planet. Your goal there is simple: find enough fuel to escape. This straightforward task gets complicated when you realize that all of the planet’s citizens had disappeared in mysterious circumstances.

Alice VR is a fresh take on the classic adventures of Alice in Wonderland. During your playthrough you'll meet familiar characters such as Cheshire Cat or Mad Hatter, but the unique sci-fi setting will make every encounter a big surprise.

VIRTUAL REALITY


Alice VR works on Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and is also compatible with Razer OSVR. Traditional controllers are supported on Oculus, while both them and motion controllers work on Vive.

The game is designed to be the most comfortable VR experience possible. After a lot of research and discussions with gamers, we've learned how to make the game enjoyable even for players new to VR. We want you to feel relaxed through your entire playthrough.

Alice VR also works on a regular monitor, without a VR headset.

Hardcore Gamer
The planet is filled with trippy touches and striking imagery. There’s an adorable robotic companion who pops up from time to time to offer cryptic advice, and tons of interesting environmental details. (...) People who want to explore a striking new land in a relaxing fashion will be in heaven here. Adding to this are some interesting puzzles. An early one that involved rearranging pieces of a coil to reactivate the ships engine was simple and clever. Traversal puzzles that goof around with gravity are a delight to solve as they force a level of three dimensional thinking that is satisfying to solve.

VR Focus
The world that Carbon Studio has created is a fantastic mix of sci-fi architecture and bizarre dreamlike scenarios. The books inspiration can be seen everywhere, from the mechanical cat that occasionally appears to the out and out absurdly trippy experiences, sharks flying through the sky, menacing black and white forests, tunnels that twist and turn as your viewpoint changes, it’s a visual assault on the senses. Add to that the eerie audio score, and you have quite an engaging mixture.

God is a Geek
With a five hour playthrough it’s one of the longer story-based VR titles, and with monitor support included, you can always experience the wacky world of Alice VR minus the VR. 6d5b4406ea

I really wanted to like this game but after 2 hours I cannot take the slow pacing and dodgy texturing/audio.

After playing Obduction this past week I may have been spoiled. The world just feels empty with no atmosphere.

I wanted to like this game, but the puzzles were really dull and repetitive and there was no real sense of conflict. I loved the exploration, but it just felt that there was no real reason to continue playing once I'd gotten so far in.. I can't say too much about the gameplay besides the first 30 minutes or so, but I can say the graphics were stunning and very appealing.

Unfortunately, the trackpad-motion design (on Vive at least) was extremely motion-sickness-inducing to say the least. I felt disoriented and motion sick within the first few minutes and I couldn't last any longer than 15 minutes when I first tried it. While I understand a teleportation-based system might make the puzzles less fun and diminish the gameplay, the trackpad movement was simply unplayable to me without sickness.

If you don't get motion sick in VR at all, this might be a great game for you, but I can't recommend it if you are susceptible to VR sickness in any other games.. Not bad game. Sorry I got this. Even with graphics turned up on my 980TI I see a shimmering mess and yes I did fiddle with the graphics options. Controls suck. If you could move a little faster that would be better and I could live with it. Not recommended and will uninstall now. Felt instantly bored... with the repeating scenes.... Played for about 15 mins, on the vive, no sickness caused so far, saw an sbs YouTube video of rift gameplay and the player said it may cause sickness but it was completely comfortable for me, the only issue is the blur, the text on the menus aren't sharp, like bad AA, switching to very high on everything doesn't change the menu text, and in game it's just like a film of blur, most noticeable looking further ahead/down a long corridor, got to a part where you had to shrink to fit through a small tunnel and that felt cool shrinking and the scale of the environment got large, I can tell the game will look very very good when this issue is fixed, I'm definitely not going to refund and am looking forward to playing through but only when the graphics bug is fixed, it is just basically stuck on the lowest settings possible so fingers crossed it won't take long to fix.... I liked the idea of this game - exploration is what VR was made for but I played for an hour and got sick and bored. Firstly I have an Oculus and Teleportation DOES NOT work. The website claims it does, there's even a button for it but it does nothing. Continuous motion moving around is a recipe for motion sickness - that's why every other game uses (or at least offers) teleport.
Also, the game is pretty dull. The environments are pretty bland and don't really give you any feeling of exploring. In any given environment all the areas look pretty much the same with just a couple of repeating objects, a chair, a screen etc. Think Duke Nukem 3D type enviroments rather than anything modern.
I regret buying this, even on sale, and I really wouldn't waste your time or money.. This game allegedly looks great on a monitor, but even with a GTX 980ti it looks fairly poor in VR, playing it on a HTC Vive and everything further than 3m away appears blurred making even the largish size font of signs hard to read until you're close. Additionaly, the blurring and pixelation of the graphics, combined with the 'gliding' motion and the continuous need for turning around, gave me an unpleasant dizzy feeling that meant I couldn't play for more than around 20-25 minutes at a time before having to take the Vive off and sit down for a while.
As I was only able to make it just past the first driving segment, I feel I can't comment on the overall gameplay, but from the sections I have seen; Alice moves extremely slowly (possibly intentional to reduce VR sickness?) and I can only hope that the later 'puzzles' are more interesting because those that I've seen so far are laughably simple.

TL;DR Solved 3 'puzzles' without realizing, got too dizzy, had to go lie down for an hour.

The biggest addition this time is more game. “Roboto Factory” is a free DLC that lets you get inside the famous Roboto Factory, where all the bots you've met on Speculo were created. Whoa, we've just finished implementing all of the voices for the game!

As you probably know, Alice VR is a story-driven experience, so choosing the right voice actor for every character wasn't easy. Especially because there are no typical characters in Alice VR. The game's world is inspired by "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" so everyone there is... a little peculiar.

And so we are very proud to announce that over 20 characters were recorded by Sound Cadence Studios, and the AI, which will lead you from the game, is played by Julie Shields and was recorded by the wonderful guys at Eon Sounds.

Also, if you're not a native English speaker, please remember that Russian, German, French, Spanish and Polish subtitles (and Polish voices!) will also be available in game!
