A young boy's quest for revenge leads him to become a gangster as an adult, and with each day he becomes more and more like his enemies. Can he find vengeance and redemption?
Vijay Dinanath Chavan's father is implicated in a scandal and lynched by the villagers on the instigation of Kancha Cheena. Vijay, at a young age, takes on the responsibility of looking after his mother, and sister and in the process, he becomes a gangster. He captures Kancha Cheena and hands him over to the police...Kancha escapes sentence with lack of evidence and thus Vijay and Kancha are pitted against each other in the battle of evil vs good.
It is unfortunate that a Director of Mukul Anand's calibre, could not find a better subject, instead of going in for a typical revenge story. Again their experiment of having Amitabh with a different voice failed miserably, and they had to re-dub the film and release it again. In short a technically superior film, but a great chance lost. Another sad part about this film was that, like other Amitabh starrers with violent themes, this film also has mediocre musical score.
Yep, this movie is a great copy of Scarface except here the hero's motivation to big the king of the world comes from revenge. Amitabh comes off as a violent but very ambitious person. Movie has a lot of action which is quite realistic and violent (the way I like it). True to his role Amitabh gets shot I think eight nine times but survives to come back and kick some butt. A lot gunslinging and explosion involving cool stunts with cars. It's really unfortunate Amitabh was already quite old if he had been a little younger I think he would have made more movies like this one. This movie definitely has teeth and is one of the best gangster movies of all times.
