About This Game

Opening your eyes, you see a modern looking bedroom. All is quiet. Vague memories flash in your mind as you stand from the cold wooden floor. A voice bellows from an intercom placed on a wall, which is surrounded by strange shaped markings. The voice tells you your mission; to use your intelligence and escape. This is your trial. Can you unravel the mystery behind your captivity, and most importantly, can you escape this treacherous and sinister ordeal?





The initiate tells the story of Nathan Rockford. Nathan has lost his memory and has awakened in a house full of traps and puzzles. You take on the role of Nathan on an adventure to discover the truth to why your trapped here, who your kidnappers are, and have a chance to join a secret organisation and with it, the knowledge of everything.

A host of glitchy gameplay and uninspiring puzzles. Add to this a needless flashlight mechanic that will leave the player searching for items in the dark instead of using logic and reason to progress. Tons of clipping and framerate issues to boot! Buyers beware.. I do not usually give negative reviews.

While this game may seem appealing as an "escape the room" or logic puzzle / need-a-pen-and-paper-to-figure-out type of thing, I spent about 1 hour stuck in the first room due to what was apparently a bug (of which I have already encountered several).

After restarting, it took little time to progress past the point I was previously stuck.

The puzzles themselves are mostly "find this object and place it here" or the kind of logic problems you'd find in a puzzle book, find this so you can answer this... Some are cryptic, some are not. Some, I feel, are a little unfair to the player and are made purposefully very difficult and frustrating in order to nag at those types of minds that must solve this problem.

They are a little uninspired, I found. There was nothing particularly original, although everything did make sense.

The writing / narrative for the little story there is doesn't inspire any particular interest for me, either. The trailer is quite misleading.

I was hoping for an MKULTRA type experience, as the game made it sound a little like this, but was disappointed and - ultimately - I would rather play The Room or the Rusty Lake series.

I've found myself becoming a little frustrated with the puzzles and the awkward method of progression. Although, to start, the experience was one of mystery and satisfaction when solving the first few puzzles and discovering new things to aid in solving a puzzle on which I was stuck before.

It isn't a particularly popular game, and I cannot bring myself to recommend it.

I will finish it (twice, apparently, for the achievements), but it will likely be removed from my library after this.

Here's hoping that the sequel is an improvement. It is no match for Tales Untold or any other game of this type.

No idea why it's categorised under "action", as there is no action. Only the same kinds of puzzles that I've solved many times over the past 40 years of solving puzzles.

There's also a website link from the discussions, accessible after completing the game, which offers some riddles that... I don't particularly care about.. This was a good game but a hard one. Some of the puzzles made no sense to me. Two I guessed and got them right. It made me think about what I needed to do and it does have a twist to it. There could have been a better ending tho. The music was great and also the sounds around the house. If you like puzzles and The movie Saw you may like this one. Now on to the second game of this one! 7.5/10. Cant play it because of instant Blackscreen at the beginning. didnt get any help from support at all. tried everything to fix the problem, even installed it on two different computers. same issue. thanks for nothing :D. This game was fun and interesting. You are trapped in a house alone with only the voice of your mysterious captor speaking over a loudspeaker. You must solve a number of puzzles to get out of the house.

The puzzles were interesting and challenging. Most of them require backtracking throughout the house to jot down clues or to perform certain actions. I was able to solve almost all of them without help. The puzzles made the gameplay long enough to be worth the price of the game. There was one "puzzle" involving a dresser with the words "gold," "silver," and "bronze" on it that I did not solve because I could not find the keys (and not for lack of trying), but I think I read that this was a bug.

The story was interesting, but there was no payoff at the end...no real conclusion or explanation as to why you were there or who your captor was (other than his name).

There were a few glitches that typically happened after loading a saved game. For example, the objects shaped like triangles, squares, etc. reappeared in the original locations even after solving the puzzle by putting them on the correct bases (and allowed me to pick them up again). The fire puzzle reset and I had to re-enter the code. Also, objects remained in inventory even after not being needed anymore like the lighter.

Overall, a fun game that is worth it.

. It's slow af and it crashes when you try to change the settings. Not Reccomended.. THIS GAME IS FREAKING AWESOME. The puzzles are challenging and complex. The story is interesting. I loved it so much I bought the second one. I highly recommend this game.. Nice little escape room style game. Some good puzzles. The game looked really cool and I really wanted to play it, but the game was completely unplayable from the first minute. Even on 700 dollar gaming pc(it can stream games like Overwatch and League of Legends at maximum graphics and high fps), this game with Nancy Drew level graphics ran at about 60 seconds per frame. Ultimately my computer crashed within just a couple of minutes and I had no choice but to get a refund. I'm really bummed out by the entire experience as I was really looking forward to this game and had waited a long time for it to go on sale.


But hey, if it's not going to work for you you'll probably know almost immediately and be able to request a refund within the 2 hour window. Bonus points in that my request was processed quickly. So maybe try it and hope for better luck then me, but I cannot recommend this game.. This game is great! I really enjoyed it. Most of the puzzles were pretty staight forward but became more challenging as the game progressed. Some of the puzzles I got stuck a lot but was able to get some help in the discussion boards. The graphics were great, voice acting, story, all top notch. Would highly recommend for the puzzle/explorer gamers out there!

We hope to address some key issues in this update. Please find change list below:

• Fixed an issue where upon loading, the game would hang, and sometimes crash.
  
• A complete overhaul of the lighting system for better performance on all machines.
  
• Fixed a bug relating to the map puzzle where the solution was not correct.
  
• Fixed a rare issue where the game would freeze for 10 seconds randomly.
  
• Increased the length of time before Jay speaks to you over the speakers.

We have just released a small, yet important patch that should solve many, many issues.

Please find patch notes below:

• Fixed saving issue where some puzzles where progress was not saving
  
• Fixed loading issue where progress was not loaded
  
• Fixed issue where a mechanical slot was not displayed on the wall after loading game
  
• Fixed a rare issue where piano did not load after it move.
  
• Fixed a rare issue where the laundry room would not load and you would fall through the floor
  
• Fixed the in game menu options for resolution and texture detail options, so they now work
  
• Fixed issue where texture detail option was not changed when apply button clicked
  
• Fixed small hole in ceiling of closet bedroom
  
• Fixed a rare bug that did not unlock attic safe

Depending on what bug you got, or what puzzle you made it to, you may require a new save. Sorry…
