The vice-president is sworn in and informed while the people leans about Michener's suicide and regional leaders demand a domestic power shift away from the White House. Aboard, feelings are mixed about the end of the piratical kidnapping and three casualties. Doc Rios's study of Dr/ Scott's notes and the virus in Takehaya's now grateful family proves an inexplicable mutation. Chandler refuses to wait for orders and sets out to find out if president Peng, or a new Chinese usurper, is behind the traps and goes to the Shanghzhai pirate port, where they find a poorly coded map of traps for ships.
Following Michener's suicide, the Vice President is sworn in and contacts Chandler to tell him to keep on doing what he is doing. The President meets with his people who wants him to make some changes which are extreme and Kara speaks out about it which puts her in the doghouse. Rios finds Scott's notes and begins to analyze the virus in Takehaya and his wife. Chandler seeks out the smuggler who might know what Peng is doing. But when they go to where he is, the place is In flames. They deduce Peng is trying to make sure he doesn't talk. So they ask Takehaya what he knows about him and he says that he might leave some info with his family, so he tells them where they are so they go there. Rios discovers something about the virus.
So... how come the virus hasn't worked on Takehaya and Kyoko, and is Peng behind it? In this episode we basically center on the investigation of a possible mutation of the virus and the aftermath of Mirchener's apparent suicide. The episode does a good job in keeping things going on, but the pace is slow and the plot developments few.

"Sea Change" is an episode in the middle of nowhere. Takehaya's threat is over, and he has joined the crew, and the kidnapped are free. So, this episode works as an introduction to the second half of the season and some of the developments that had been already hinted through the first episodes: Peng is doing shady things and has some shady and dreadful plan. It is well explained, directed and acted, but after all the tension of previous episodes, it ends being a little bit of a let down. The same happens with the USA situation, where the new president and all other plot developments are tone down, with little energy in the proceedings.
