Sanctum is well designed, but very difficult. I regularly lose on Normal difficulty, and only usually succeed on Easy. I, like many other reviewers here, wish that Sanctum actually had a storyline, rather than just have aliens attack...because they can. They are willing to literally die to destroy the core, because...something. Skye defends the core...because she's seemingly very sadistic, judging by her laughter at times. A lot is left unexplained yet unmysterious, as if they had explained it, but they didn't.

Overall, though, it is an insanely addictive game, but it gets discouraging from time to time. The graphics are remarkably good, and the expansive backgrounds give the appearance of a living world outside of the levels, though you can't actually explore beyond the level borders.. A great TD game - better than Sanctum 2.
It's cheap, runs well, looks pretty. FPS play works very well in the game to keep the action going.
It's also very cool to play with other people, I've gone hours on survival mode with my friends.

The game has a lot of content going for it already, but then there's also the free DLCs and the really cheap ones (they go down to $0.99 on sale).

I find the game is better than Sanctum 2 - the game just feels better. It really has polish, and I felt Sanctum 2 kind of lacked that; as a result, it's a funner game. You don't have to level up for perks, (the grind is removed entirely) and there isn't pressure to be constantly firing at all times.

I also see much better FPS in this game than in Sanctum 2, even when I turn down the graphics to low. The game ends up looking worse than Sanctum 1 but still doesn't run as well.

There are a lot of really cool towers in this game too, and the lack of a wall limit (which was an odd decision for Sanctum 2 that further distanced it from a TD game) lets you be much more inventive with the game.

Past that, Sanctum is really a good game. For fans of TD, FPS, and messing around with their friends, Sanctum is a game for you.. An alarmingly good and varied game that really does excel in the way the game marries the genre of FPS and tower defense.

If you like those two genres, this is an essential buy.. This is quite simply one of the most innovative and the most entertainning games I've played in a while. With beautiful visuals, a smooth and pleasing soundtrack, combind with a unique gameplay that requires both stratagy and skill. This game provides a experience that will leave you in absolute awe. I know I did, I have actually spent several idel minutes exploring and admiring the map's beauty. It also has several secrets lying around on each map that creates an environment of mystery or simply just silliness. If that dosen't convince you to get this amazing game. It also offers ingame Text-To-Voice that is quite simply, ♥♥♥♥ing hilarious.
Get this game. It's well worth more then what it's being sold for.. Sanctum is a strange beast. It seems designed from the ground up for multiplayer. There's no plot or characters. Yet the multiplayer is all but abandoned. Though, in the past few weeks, I keep finding myself grinding waves on the single-player. It's fun. Stupid fun. It takes strategy. Planning. After that's all done, you get some real twitch-shooter fun. I was dissapointed that there wasn't any real content or story, but the mechanics are just great enough to keep me comming back for wave after wave.

Sanctum will make you think, but not too hard.

7/10. Epic Store sell outs.. I love this game. I have always loved this game. Something about FPS meets tower defence game that just speaks to me. Not only that - the way that it beutifully satisfies the different types of players in Co-op means (outside of Portal 2), its the game you have to have as a co-op.

I would like to see some more maps, but with Sanctum 2 here - Im thinking this is not something I am ever likely to see. But, counterbalance this with what is now a very reasonable price, and you've got yourself a highly enjoyable game thats worth the spend when your looking to share your evenings with that special IP address..
