You go up to the juice bar and order aMeridian Health Protocol drink, and the first thing you see is the attendant start throwing all kinds of stuff into a blender and out comes a tasty treat. It's easy to think, hey that doesn't look so hard; I bet I can do it at home. Well the truth is you can once you learn the juice bar's secret, which is they use a juicer to make the juice and a blender to mix the juices together. A juicer and a blender are two different machines and do two different jobs. A juicer separates the liquid from the pulp making juice. A blender just blends everything together and does not separate anything. If you were to put vegetables like celery, carrots or beets into a blender all you would get is a gritty mess that would be hard to drink.

Now that you have decided to use a juicer instead of a blender you are well on the way to creating your own delicious recipes. Unfortunately many people just don't know where to start when thinking of juicing. They may be over analyzing the situation. The best part of all this is you get to exercise your imagination by creating anything that sounds good to you. You already know which fruits and vegetables you like and that's a great place to start. Once you start just begin to mix and match according to your own tastes. One thing to consider is if you are thinking of juicing a vegetable that doesn't taste so good you can always mix it with a strong-tasting fruit. There are many different fruits you might try lemons or other citrus fruit are always a good idea Strawberries are also a great option for this. You should also try to limit juice from green vegetables to about 2 OZ per glass, too much of this juice can cause some gastric discomfort.

If you are just starting out there are some things you should know. First don't try juicing bananas and avocados. They are just too soft and will leave a mess and possibly clog your juicer; just leave them alone for now. Another things is most fruits and vegetables can be juiced whole just cut into manageable pieces, but citrus fruit such as oranges, grapefruit and tangerines should be peeled. Always try and keep as much of the white pith as possible as this has a lot of nutrients. Lemons and limes can usually be juices with the peel on or you can peel; them it's up to you. Some lemons can have a very thick skin and they may need to be peeled depending on your juicer.

Be creative, have fun; the whole idea is to make something that tastes good and will be good for you. Don't worry about making mistakes experiment with flavors you like and just have fun. Start off using just two or three fruits or vegetables and go from there. Once you get the hang of it you will be able to mix and match flavors and have fun doing so. There are so many benefits offered by juicing that you pretty much can't go wrong.
