When most of the population of Earth is infected with a virus and transformed into flesh eaters and blood drinking creatures, a group of hunters led by Tao chases the vampire zombies to eliminate them. Six non-infected survivors try to find the exit of an abandoned hospital crowded with the infected creatures, and Tao and his group help them. Meanwhile, the military command is ready to bomb the area and wipe it from the map.
What can you expect?

People die, more people die, then somebody gets bitten and someone else dies. No special plot.

No special turn of events.

No special effects or snappy dialogue.

Like almost every other zombie movie you've ever seen. A true masterpiece in the art of zombie movies which revolve around the same worn out plot, time and again.

Do not expect anything else any more interesting.

Why are zombie movies even made any longer? If you've seen one, you've seen 10 000.

Somebody - please come up with something new to this bleak and tired genre. A virus spreads and makes people everywhere go mad with a blood thirst rage. Many people are trapped through out the city and the few that survive are fighting for their lives. There is also a group of "hunters" led by Steven Seagal and the hunters are killing these infected with sword and guns. The government is also involved and ready to bomb the city and kill whats left and hope the hunters get the survivors and themselves out first.

I have seen so many movies like this with 28 Days Later coming to mind first. The movie tried ripping off Balde as far as the action goes, but it is way better than Blade cause that movie sucked. It also had a very Day Of The Dead feel to it. Keep in mind though that these are infected people who crave blood and don't like sunlight, but they are not vampires or zombies. They talk and they think and they plan and organize, they are smart. Why the hunters didn't just use machine guns is a good question, as most seemed rather easy to kill. They claimed at times not wanting to use guns for the sake of not making noise, but yet after fighting with swords for 10 minutes they usually ended up shooting one anyway...very silly.

The directing was really bad at times here and the very unoriginal story mixed with bad directing makes for a bad movie. Seagal was the star although he wasn't on screen a lot. He is known for his three titled straight to video flops so I guess he was an appropriate choice. This movie ripped off tons of movies, and uses the hospital from Stephen Kings Kingdom Hospital miniseries and even uses clips from that film. It also references Day of the Dead which it obviously rips off at times. I also hate how the lead girl favors Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame, that was a cheesy marketing move. I did like Keith David in his small role because I am a fan of his.

This movie offers nothing new, it wasn't horrible but it definitely wasn't great...I will honestly say I would recommend it to people with a warning attached, that you've seen this before, but it is okay.. The creatures never got scary nor did it focus on any of them long enough for you to get a feel of what they were. One key ingredient in making these films work is having a creature/zombie/vampire or whatever having a reoccurring part all through the movie to keep people looking and waiting for them. 3/10 stars, good for a one time viewing and nice to see Seagall smacking around on some fanged men.
After a viral epidemic turns most of the population into blood-thirsty zombies, survivors Morgan (Danny Midwinter) and Dorothy (Jenna Harrison) hole up together at the medical complex where Dorothy was once a student intern. When four other survivors—Dylan (Daniel Percival), Ricky (Stephen Hagan), Amelia (Emma Catherwood), and Charlotte (Skye Bennett)—come into the hospital looking for penicillin to treat Charlotte's pneumonia, the two groups decide to band together. Besides, they have to get out of the hospital before the generator fails and the main security door becomes permanently locked, and Dorothy is the only one familiar enough with the layout to get them to the door. Meanwhile, outside the hospital, Tao (Steven Seagal) and his group of vampire hunters are fixing to enter, kill any vampires they meet, and search for survivors. They had better move quickly, however, because Lieutenant Waters (Keith David) has been given orders to "sterilize" the area at the crack of dawn. Fighter jets loaded with bombs are standing by, just waiting for the command to take to the air. The movie is based on a screenplay by American screenwriter Mathew Kilckstein. No details are provided in the movie, other than a prologue that reads:

Once the infection hit, there was little time to react. People did what they could but, since no one was immune to the effects of the virus, authorities were ultimately helpless as the virus rapidly spread. All who became exposed and survived an initial attack began their own relentless quest for blood, attacking and feeding upon the innocent. There was no vaccine, no known reports of individuals made immune. Neighborhoods and entire cities were wiped out. The very fabric of civilization was breaking down before our eyes. Many surviving humans like us were left to fend for themselves, moving around during the day and hiding at night, barricading themselves inside secure buildings. Others formed vigilante groups or became hunters, swordsmen who were tracking down and killing the infected. We were lucky when we managed to find a refuge, a place where there was some food and shelter, a place where we could survive until we could be rescued. But with the location of our refuge no longer being safe and the chances for rescue becoming more and more remote, our options were running out. It was now us 'Against the Dark.'The red logo on the hospital used for exterior scenes in Against the Dark was also featured in Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital (2004) (2004). The survivors finally see daylight at the end of a tunnel and realize that they have made it to the security exit. Along the way to the door, they meet a young boy. Amelia declares him not infected but, when she reaches out her hand to him, he bites her and runs off. Now infected, Amelia hangs back while Dorothy and Charlotte keep running, fighting off more vampires as they get closer to the exit. They finally make it to the exit and get the door open. Tao and his last remaining troop, Tagart (Tanoai Reed) catch up, but so does Amelia, now fully turned vampire. She tries to convince them to become vampires, too, but Dylan sneaks up behind and shoots her in the back. Suddenly, dozens of vampires come running down the corridor. Dorothy, Charlotte, Tao, Tagart, and Dylan escape through the door just as the generator fails and the door closes, trapping all the vampires inside. The army starts dropping bombs, and the whole place goes up in flames. In the final scenes, Lt. Waters receives word that the hunters and survivors have made it out alive, Dylan, Dorothy, and Charlotte drive off looking for the safe spot, and Tao and Tagart walk off, no doubt to look for more vampires to kill.
