About This Content

Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients is the first expansion for Drox Operative. Drox Operative is a starship action RPG with warring alien races, fierce space battles, a dynamic, evolving galaxy, and co-op multiplayer for Windows and Mac.

Before the Drox ruled the galaxy, before they were even sentient, there were older races now known as the Ancients. Using their Operatives, the Drox crushed and enslaved most of these races. The rest fled known space. When the Drox turned on their own Operatives, the Drox were utterly destroyed. Newer races emerged and thrived in the power void, never knowing the menace waited. Seizing their chance, the Ancients are invading to take their rightful place in the galaxy, as rulers! Thirsting for revenge, the Ancients can't harm the extinct Drox, but they can crush the next best thing, the Drox Operatives.

This is a prime example of what not to do for a DLC.
Very little new content and broken AI causing endless frustration.
For example: There are a couple of "new" races that are just plain aggro. They will instantly declare war on you upon meeting you.
That is ok unless you have just started a new sector and the first race you meet is one of them.
No more safe harbor for a long time unless you get lucky.
You basicly just lost all your money and ship.
Lazy programming, don't even get it even if it was free.. Makes the original game much better. So it is worth the couple of bucks when on sale.. I will start by saying I love Drox Operative, it's unique, interesting and a blast to play especially with friends. I do wish multiplayer was more refined and hosting was easier, it's rather annoying to have to mess around with port forwards and firewalls to play with friends.

But as a warning to everyone: If you buy this DLC you will lose your old ships. When I purchased this DLC and jumped on, all my old ships were gone and I was forced to start again. Disabling the DLC did nothing and I have not been able to get my ships back and I suspect I never will. Just be warned this may happen to you.

The game is super fun though, so I would recommend buying both the game and the DLC before investing a whole lot of time.. The action RPG genre hasn't really changed. Soldak Entertainment makes an effort to make very unique ARPG's with more going on then just the same formula. All of there games are addictive and unique! Highly customizable with mod support and difficulty rulesets which can be toggled at the character selection screen! Multiplayer support, both online and LAN for Din's Curse and Drox Operative!
