Forty-two years after her first visit in Tokyo, Mothra returns to warn mankind that they must return Mechagodzilla, along with Godzilla's bones, to the sea, for the dead must not be disturbed. If not, dire consequences will follow. However, Godzilla is once again on the rampage, and Mechagodzilla is Japan's only defense.
One year after the fight between Godzilla and Mechagodzilla, the two monsters along with Mothra face off in a conclusive battle royale.
I think there's an idea among some of the more inbred factions of Godzilla fandom that a Godzilla movie that shows Godzillaa "villian" (which is apparently all they got out of the first movie, "Gojira") is by definition a good movie, and any movie that shows The Big G in a more sympathetic light is bad. There's also an unhealthy focus on technical details, which are important, but which don't make a good movie in and of themselves.

The latest entry in this series is badly written, badly directed, badly acted, badly scored (one of the worst film scores I've ever heard), and even if I liked seeing movies where Godzilla loses in the end, I'd think this movie was crap. Of course, I hate every Godzilla movie since "Godzilla 2000", which ended the way a Godzilla movie should end, with Godzilla triumphant over both man and monster alike. But in the end, all I ask in the various interpretations is that they be intelligent fun movies, with good stories, and thrilling fights. This does not qualify.

I'm noticing a trend in the last four films that bothers me--every single one glorifies the military. Though the Japanese Self Defense Force's ineffectual assaults on Godzilla have always been part of the fun, I'm getting the feeling the latest generation of filmmakers working on Godzilla, who never experienced the horrors of being on the losing side of a big war, have an unrealistic and glamorized view of the military. They disguise it a bit by having a lot of female soldiers, but if I see one more goofy salutea finishing flourish to a Godzilla film, I may barf. Godzilla first came into beinga CONDEMNATION of militarism.

About the latest version of the Shobijin or Infant Island Fairies. Aside from the fact that their singing sucks, is it really so hard to find twin sisters to play these icons of Kaiju Eiga? These girls weren't even the same HEIGHT!

Those who evoke the first few films, with their grim and violent version of Godzilla, are offtrack. Those movies are nothing like the last four, lacking anything close to the emotional depth of the first (HIRE GOOD ACTORS!!) and the visual style of the next few.

Go back to the approaches that work--Honda and Okawara. The new guys can't cut it. And the box office receipts prove it.
The one thing that gets me is how some reviewers rate movies, but only tells the parts that they hated. What about the rest of the movie. This one is much better than the first (Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2002) by far. The story is very interesting this go around. The people of Japan are warned that if they do not dismantle Kiryu then Mothra will not fight for them rather against them.

This movie also has key elements from previous movies suchMothra, and Godzilla vs Mothra, while still staying true to the 2002 flick. The special effects get better with each movie especially Godzilla's thermanuclear blast. The monster battles in this one were goodwell, some reviewers think Godzilla has to be super evil to have good monster battles, shame on them. Mothra did her parts to hold off Godzilla until Hio and Mana (the larva) shows up.

I won't spoil the movie or the ending for you, but the doorway for Godzilla Final Wars has been busted open. Again don't trust reviews from critics whom couldn't tell you the difference between Godzilla and Zilla. This is a definite buy and an enjoyable movie. Who says you have to be a kid to appreciate the action of a Godzilla movie? Check this one out, you won't be disappointed.
