Terrible, horrible, no good, very bad game.. EDIT; 4/17/2017: so it appears that this game was updated for worse in the past year or so. Now it seems that the game's physics have changed causing instadeath by maneuvers that once wouldn't harm you at all and, as a bonus, the game no longer seems to support ANY controllers natively (and believe me, I have quite a few). But hey, now achievements work; that's what we all wanted, right?! Whatever happened, steam now seems to be the worst place to purchase a fun but humanly flawed game called Gish. Review has been changed to negative. Original: This is an interesting and mostly fun physics platformer, though not without its flaws. You are Gish, a liquidy ball of tar, and you must use your shifting weight to overcome a variety of puzzles. The game isn't the most polished, and the controls can be very frustrating at times, but all in all this is a decent early indie game that takes clear influences from classic Mario games while adding in something new.. NO ONE PLAYS YOUR GAMES EDMUND. Gish is a great game, but you have to have the patience for some of the puzzles.. a little bit too indie.. Gish comes from 2004, a time when every single game had some physics gimmick (Half-Life 2 was released around that time, too). Gish implements a nice physics engine in a 2d game, but then DESTROYS any chance of being a good game due to one very stupid decision: limited lives. It isn't a problem in the first or second world, but then there's a LOT of instant-deaths in the third (the "fall in the lava and die again" world). You don't combine these two things, instant-deaths and limited lives. It's not "challenging"; it just turns boring to do levels 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4 and then die on 3-5 because of a tiny mistake that throws you back to 3-1. Games like VVVVVV work because, even if you die a lot, you don't have to do again previous levels - even if it is hard as balls, it never becomes boring. And the worst thing is: since Gish is a physics based game, your movement can't be very precise (as in VVVVVV), so you are prone to more mistakes and stupid deaths.. u2665u2665u2665u2665. Indie platform goodness with a protagonist based on fluid physics? Yes please. If you'll excuse the pun, this game oozes innovation and fun.. good game :D reminds me of the good old days..
