really disappointing :( MISSING FUNCTIONALITY, feels like a brick, no fun I have over 150 hrs on FSX, I own several other aircraft and other mods such as the DA40. Mixture and Prop controls are basically broken , there's no change whatsoever until 0% on either one, so you have two settings, full and none - really quite annoying. It's a little better when in flight at maybe 3000-5000ft but not much, there's still a lot of room left in the motion but it's still pretty close to "all or nothing". Combine that with an EGT that's missing a readout and it's pretty difficult to lean for cruise. Horrible climb performance . Arrow IV takeoff distance is supposed to be about 1,600 ft but I can't takeoff even at 3,000 with the stick full back. Arrow IV POH says Vr is at 65-75KIAS but I can barely get it off the ground at the end of a 4000ft runway at 80KIAS despite payloads and fuel weights adding up to not much better or worse than the 172 for example - I don't have this kind of take-off problem with other standard aircraft like the 172 or other addons like the DA40. This thing is supposed to have 20 extra HP on the 172 and yet it feels like it's missing about 100HP - again, I suspect the non-functionality of the mixture and prop controls is at least partly to blame here. Flying this thing is no fun for me at all. It feels about like flying a large rock - painful to get it to climb, painful to get it to descend and still see where I'm going. In the real world, the Arrow/Archer series is really just a tweak of the Cherokee 180. If you want to actually enjoy yourself I can't recommend this addon. If you want something at a similar price that's actually fun, get the DA40 - it's a blast. The A2A Simulations Cherokee 180 is really pretty amazing, it's a bit expensive but if you are up for it, save a little extra and buy that instead. (Auto-mixture has no effect, enabled or disabled, nothing about the aircraft performance changes, which is again why I suspect this FDM to be either brokern or incomplete.). Nice plane and you know it works with Steam. Not bad for the discounted price. Yeah there are better aircraft out there, but this is nice to add to your collection without paying a lot.. Disclaimer: This module was actually released quite a few years ago, which explains a lot of my complaints. Still, it would be nice if Steam's description of it included that little bit of info. Picked this up while it was on sale for $12.49 USD. To be honest, I'm a little bit surprised at how mediocre a lot of the aircraft is. Most (if not all) dials are not aligned with their actual clickspots, texture quality is pretty bad on lots of the virtual cockpit (it also completely lacks a 2D cockpit if you prefer those), and the reference sheet and checklist seem to 404 error though they should be stored locally? Granted, there aren't many freeware PA28s that are decent quality, but this doesn't feel like something I'd expect to pay money for. This seems like an aircraft I'd download from SimHQ for FS2002, not something I'd ever pay $25 (the full price) for and use in FSX. Spend a little bit more and buy A2A's stuff instead.. I am flying FSX with the Oculus Rift - so my review will focus on this aircraft within the Inside-FSX environment. First impression - wow. Having been "real" flying older aircraft - I felt right at home. But after a few rounds I noticed annoying difficulties with the setting knobs (focus too narrow) that made it hard to get to the right numbers. The GPS on the right side panel is almost impossible to set (due to the viewing angle with the Rift) . It crashed my game on ILS approach and that, well, shouldn't happen. It has a nice night lighting and an inital wow effect. But it isn't good enough for Oculus Rift flying and it crashed. So I can't recommend it.. Nice plane and you know it works with Steam. Despite that fact that you don't get any missions the plane is still decent fun to free fly around. The good: -The detail in the cockpit is very good. The instruments are very crisp and sharp as far as textures go. Much more so than in the stock aircraft that come with the game. The cockpit lighting is blue(for night flight), and it just looks great. -The exterior of the plane looks great and is supperior in quality to the stock planes that come with the game. As in the model looks smoother polygon wise; and the paint job looks more sharp texture wise. -The sound effects are great, never flown a Piper Arrow in real life, but I wouldn't be surprised if it sounds like it does in the game. The bad: -Though a lot of the cockpit is well detailed there are some things that are bad about it. Most of the knobs and dials on the radio are 2D, some of the surfaces near the bottom of the panel, as well as the floor area uses a low res texture it seems. These things are more noticable in game. -The buttons and dials for the radio and instruments have problems when you try to interact with them using the mouse. It's hard to explain, but imagine having to click above the buttons in the cockpit to interact with them, not by clicking the button directly, it is really irritating. Overall, its still a decent add on, but it is horribly overpriced. I bought this on sale for $12.50. Even if the negatives were ironed out this add on would still not be worth $25 or even $12.50. Personally I think this should cost around 5-8 dollars. Its a small piston driven plane, I mean how hard is it to develop? If this were are larger jet airliner, I'm sure that would take more work, but they seem to be churning out Over priced DLC for this game every week or so, why do they charge such high prices for this? Also, the terrain in the screen shots are BS, the game will not look like that unless you buy the VFR scenery DLC, and not only does that only affect England, but they had the nerve cut that up into 4 different addons which cost $17 each in non sale.. I can't see the instrument panel in the normal cockpit view, if somebody can help me with that I will appreciate it
