I recently walked 60-plus miles for the Susan G. Komen walk for a breast Hypnosis Live Review   cancer cure. I had never before taken on such a huge physical challenge. What I learned from that very long walk, I found, can be applied to big challenges in our business and personal lives. Here are a few of the lessons to keep in mind for your next big endeavor:

When you're trying to accomplish something really BIG, breaks are essential. A 5 to 10 minute break to stretch, to rest (your mind or you feet), to do something different, refreshes you for the next leg of your journey. If you try to power through without breaks, you may break down or lose enthusiasm before you reach your goal. Most big challenges are not accomplished overnight. So try to enjoy the process and keep yourself refreshed and energized for the long haul. Most successfully met challenges are a part solitary, part group-supported effort. There will always be parts of our life challenges and adventures that are solitary. That's just the way life is. Solitary time is great for being contemplative and aware.

It reinforces our ability to be pro-active and self-motivating. Independent action teaches us how to be resourceful and resilient, and to learn what works and what doesn't for us personally. Solitary time should be balanced with group support time -- whether that's a team of assistants helping with the work load, a mastermind group providing ideas or people nourishing you and cheering you along. It's nearly impossible to succeed without the help of other kind, efficient and like-minded souls.

Attitude is just as important as preparation. I saw this with other people during the walk, and felt sure of it for myself. You will only accomplish what you set out to accomplish. If you think you can only make it half way that's as far as you'll go. In the end, it's our mindset that moves us ahead. Big accomplishments rarely happen by accident and you just never know what feats of magic you still have left in you. You'll be incredibly empowered by your success.
Every now and again, it's important to challenge yourself in new and BIGGER ways. Try something that seems nearly impossible. Train for it. Take it in manageable steps. And, set your "I can do it" attitude. Find out what you're made of. Do it for yourself or a good cause. We're all capable of accomplishing fantastic and amazing things!
