During the pre-season tour, in the summer of 2016, Cityzens Giving celebrated their on-going partnership with Special Olympics, the world's largest sports organisation for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

To mark the kick-off the pre-season tour, Manchester City coaches teamed up with Young Leaders and participants from the Special Olympics programme in Shanghai, to deliver a Unified Football Festival at the Yangfan School.

Unified Football brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities, where they can play together as one team, inclusive of all abilities.

Cityzens Giving has been supporting Special Olympics in China for the past three years, providing funding and training to younth-led projects in Beijing and Guangzhou. This is the first activity in Shanghai, held to celebrate the arrival of the Premier League Champions on their summer tour of China.

Children had also the opportunity to see all four trophies from the Fourmidables season, during the the festival!

To date, Young Leaders in Beijing and Guangzhou have worked with over 400 children and young people of all abilities, using the power of football to create a safe and inclusive environment, to help break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and build friendships.
Over 50 children were involved in Monday’s Festival and these are a few of the pictures of the day!
