I'm going to be pretty honest here. Sandstorm is the very first failure that NWI delivered to me, personally...

To be frank, the game is alright. I like how they've advanced: decided to move the game - more specifically, RELOAD it - on a different engine. They've added a lot of interesting features that were present in the original Insurgency and their WWII-themed game Day of Infamy. They've added a nice feature for the player's ability to customise their character with lots of cosmetics, try out new weapons and let everyone enjoy the opportunity to upgrade the weapons to the brim. They did a nice job on adding light vehicles, like the pickup truck with a mounted machine gun behind it. But for me, really, Unreal Engine 4 is an autistic engine that NWI decided to take on to try and make the game look all well and improved with all those features present. But, they actually failed. They tried hard. I respect them for that, somehow.

The game is horribly optimised: every new, but slow update doesn't bring me anything but pain and suffering while trying to launch at least one round, which, ironically, always gets stuck on the loading screen with only the main menu's music playing in the background, frozen to hell. When I actually managed to somehow launch the game and finally got to play it (before and after the official release), the experience was far from being enjoyable: bots that were missing their playermodels; floating weapons, equipment, hands and heads that look ridiculous while trying hard at life to connect to the missing body parts; unbelievable amounts of lag and FPS drops; horrible map terrain and texture loading; OP bots that still haven't been balanced; infinite loading screens with a frozen state; everything is just so wrong with this game.

I don't blame NWI, no. They're a great development team that decided to try out something new. I supported them on two of my accounts, buying Insurgency and Day of Infamy copies. What I specifically blame is their bad - I'm dead serious, it's a VERY BAD - decision of reloading the game and giving it a better look (which is where I think they were aiming more for the look of the game, not it's inner self: mechanics, more interesting features etc.) on the Unreal 4 Engine, which is - with all haste - a horrible looking sculpture covered in muck and vomit. It's difficult, it's not flexible to make it work on old PCs, toasters and potatoes. Looking at Titanfall developers, these guys juiced out the Source Engine and made the game look like it wasn't even made on the Source Engine. Why didn't NWI do the same thing? I don't know, they've been aiming for the game to be better and different, and that was their own ticket to a dead-end disappointment from some community fans, including me.

I'm not satisfied. I'm more than disappointed in NWI's decision. I'm disappointed that they didn't use the money to re-create the game again on the Source Engine with all those sick, good-looking features, or at least update the original game massively. Literally, MASSIVELY update the original game, rig it with everything that they added in Sandstorm. I'm not changing my mind. This game is a serious blow to me and the sharpest spear with the worst pain to be delivered right into my heart.

Try harder next time, NWI. I still love you.. Ok, so to start - This game runs badly on any CPU with only 4 cores. That puts you i5 owners out there in a pickle. I saw it for myself, my 4690k @ 4.4 ghz was constantly maxed out at 95-100% CPU usage, which led to lots of stuttering and dropped frames. I've since upgraded (not specifically for this game) to a humble r5 2600 and wow what a massive difference it made. No more CPU bottleneck. So there's that to consider before you buy this game, can your CPU run it sufficiently?

With that said, I love this game. It's immersive, unforgiving and incredible fun. One minute you are in a long range gun battle down an alley way, the next your indoors seeing your buddies get blown to bits by a suicide bomber. I know this game is going to get better and better. As mentioned in other reviews, there are bugs, no disputing that. What game these days doesn't have bugs? (*cough BFV cough*) This isn't a AAA game with massive money behind it. The difference here is that the Devs have passion for this game and seem to love what they do, and it shows through. The game has soul and that's part of the reason I keep on coming back. The Devs are working hard to iron out issues, updates are coming fairly consistently.

For the record, I'm running a mid range rig. Ryzen 2600 @4ghz, 16gb Ram @3200mhz and an RX 480 Nitro @ factory settings. 1080p at low settings with TAA, I get 100 - 140+ fps. At medium with Very high textures and TAA I get 70 - 100 fps, which is what I play at (I've got a 75hz monitor). The frames can jump around a bit as mentioned, so I cap mine at 90 and it sits there most of the time or use Vsync and it's a pretty solid 75 fps.

So that's my two cents. If you can run this game it's totally worth it, and that's why I recommend you giving this game a go. Cheers.. They say the game is a fast paced, competitive shooter, yet 70% are playing a bland co-op mode. The games player base is rapidly decreasing due to the devs ignorance towards their game, and the arrogance they display towards criticism forms players. Come on guys, we are making it easy for you by giving feedback, and yet you still deny a lot of the claims that players have made about bugs, balancing issues, inconsistent gameplay, quality of life, etc. It's one thing to play the game for an hour and gloat over what you have created, it's a whole other thing playing the game for 5+ hours for per day, for the good part of a week and actually see all the BS that is happening. If you had a team, or even yourselves testing the game, you just might see what the community is talking about. Have you even tested the game yourself?

What do you guys think of a rerelease on the game? Right now, there is no content or reward in the. No progression system. All there is, is play the game = lvl up. And it doesn't even get more difficult to lvl up. After a while, new maps, guns, content, etc will start to get old.

Now you're wondering why a rerelease? Well obviously not rerelease it in it's current state. Why not take it down, keep the core gameplay, but rework everything else out. All the maps are a mess and clearly noy designed by someone who knows what they are doing. The guns are meh. Cosmetics are meh. There really isn't a reason for people to play the game.
Back in beta, you could spawn camp and get rediculose amounts of kills and it was fun and satisfying, but who wants to be on the receiving end? Now it's just playing the same♥♥♥♥♥♥over and over and over and over and over........ Where is the reason to spend 8+ hrs on the game? The game still feels like it is in alpha or beta. Like we're testing the core mechanics or something.

Until they update the game to a balanced version, I don't recommend it. What do yall think?. BRING BACK VIP AND DEMOLITION. INSURGENCY STUTTERSTORM , its a good game but the stuttering just... no. great game to play with friends. i wish the character customization let u make the insurgents barefoot i bet they got sexy feet. Has good potential for further improvements new maps, weapons etc etc. The base game is entertaining especially if you are into tactical shooters.. Argh! I want to give this game a positive review, i really do, but in its current state i just can't.

The game itself has some really nice mechanics, the sound is phenomenal, the gun play feels really nice......but.....but, its just not in a finished state.

After 350+ hours playing i'm growing tired of huge frame drops, stuttering across most maps, a non functioning 'party system', co-op AI that just isn't intelligent (killed close range by a Moisin, and killed at long range by a Browning HP).

The devs (I know they are a small team) keep promising updates, but each one fixes a few bugs, but creates more. I'll edit my review after the next patch/update, but for now I'd stay away from this game.

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X
GPU: Vega 64 Sapphire Nitro+ 8GB
RAM: 16GB @3000mhz
SSD: 500 GB. The performance problems are simply unacceptable, they make the game unplayable.
Really sad because I love this game franchise
