If you are able to stay still for a period of time, try wrapping your legs in ace bandages. People also overlook the diagnosis of RLS by writing off the symptoms as simple restlessness, muscle aches, or even "growing pains."

If you suspect that your child has RLS, take him to his pediatrician. Though there is no actual medication prescribable for RLS, many other medications work to calm the side effects. With medicine you run the risk of side effects, though, so it's best to try home remedies first. Have your child exercise regularly. Using the leg muscles could tire them beyond the effects of RLS. Stretch with your child before bed. Try knee bends, spelling out the alphabet with the ankles, and touching your toes from a standing and seated position. You could massage your child's legs before bed, as well. Focus on the backs of the calves, as they are usually the most affected by RLS.
