Help With Your Weight Loss Diet How to Avoid the Snack Trap

What diet hasn't been undone by aCitriThermlittle snacking here and there, and there and there? The answer is not to ban snacks completely. How long would that last, and how much fun would it be? Total deprivation can backfire and result in a binge. The key is balance. Instead, choose what appeals to you most at the moment, take a few bites and throw the rest away, or put it where you absolutely can't get to it. Make up small calorie controlled portions of your favorite splurge and only eat one portion. This takes practice, I admit. Use these tricks to train yourself to resist just one more hand full of snacks.

Do not sit in the same room with your desired snack, and never lounge near open bags of goodies or big platters of food. Take what you want, a controlled portion, then move the food elsewhere. Delegate the task if you think you'll sneak bites on the way.

Plan ahead. Put bad snacks in a hard to reach place and put healthy snacks where you can easily reach them. After you set aside for yourself a portion of your snack, but before you eat it, (delaying gratification is, in itself, a good discipline), put the leftovers away. Use a million layers of plastic wrap to discourage future cheating. If you start fantasizing about it, distract yourself. Surf online, read a novel, give yourself a manicure.

Give it away or throw it away. There are some delicacies so delicious that you have two separate yourself from them permanently. The best, most prudent thing to do with one is to re-gift it ASAP. If you can't or won't do that, throw it away. Gone. In the garbage. Bye-bye. If you think it's possible that even the garbage is its deterrent enough, we've all been there, throw some dish soap on the food.
