If you doubt this, just look around and notice the high rates of obesity, heart GRS Ultra Review  disease, diabetes, cancer and early death that otherwise intelligent people are suffering. You can do better if you eat better.Through inborn parental instinct, you're probably skeptical when it comes to your children. That's a good trait. Talk to other vegetarian parents to see what their worries were and how they were able to quell them. Notice how healthy and active their kids are in comparison to what you consider normal for the age.

For starters, we'd like to mention that the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Dietetic Association have both published position papers that have vouched for the nutritional adequacy of vegetarian diets for children. Add to that the fact that for more than twenty years the National Academy of Sciences has supported giving a meatless diet to children, and you have three major players in the scientific world asserting that everything will be OK if you choose not to feed meat to your child. This may help calm your fears in a general way, but there are more specific questions about vegetarianism and kids, which in many cases mirror the concerns that adults voice when they decide to go veg.

Whether they are eleven months old or eleven years old, children need high-energy, nutrient-dense foods to support their rapidly growing bodies. You don't have much to worry about on the meat front for much of the first year, because breast milk or a full-fat, vitamin-enriched soy formula or milk formula will provide all the nutrients your child needs. (Do not use regular soy milk, just as you wouldn't use ordinary whole milk, because neither is formulated for infants.) When the child is ready to move on to solid foods, beans, grains, soy-foods, and vegetables (all high in nutrients including protein) can be ground up in the blender or chopped up and eaten as finger foods. Dairy products can be a good protein source, but deriving protein from vegetables helps avoid protein overload. It also keeps the body free from the hormones and antibiotics present in many dairy products.

To make sure your child is getting enough calories, supplement his or her normal diet with nutrient-rich foods like avocados, nut butters, sweet potatoes, and dried fruits. By virtue of getting the proper amount of calories (provided it is coming from the right sources), you can make sure that protein needs are being fulfilled.
