George "Ice Man" Chambers (Rhames) is a top ranked heavyweight boxer. However Chambers has his world turned upside down when he is accused of rape and sent to prison. Upon his arrival he hears talk about Monroe Hutchen (Snipes) who is the top ranked prison boxing champ 10 years running. Immediately there is bad blood with Chambers not wanting to be second to no one which leads to a lunch room fight between the men. Figuring it will be a good way to make money fellow convict Emmanuel 'Mendy' Ripstein (Peter Falk) sets up a prison boxing match between the two men to decide who is the real UNDISPUTED champ. Michael Rooker plays a guard, Fisher Stevens, John Seda, and Master P co star.
When heavyweight champion George "Iceman" Chambers lands in prison, the resident gangster arranges a boxing match with the reigning prison champ.
"Undisputed" is a slick flick about a world champ boxer (Rhames), an obvious Tyson knock-off, and a prison champion boxer (Snipes) who get together to find out who can kick whose butt is the slammer. This glossy flop features 2-D characters we couldn't care less about and unvarnished filler to shore up the weak plot. Who wins? Who cares. All sizzle, no steak, this one's best saved for a slow night on cable. (C-)

Note - Boxing fans should pass on this film and stick with the real deal. 100 "Undisputeds" don't equal one Ward-Gatti. This film has Ving Rhames as a Mike Tyson type heaveweight champ who is sent to jail and winds up in a prison boxing match with former contender Wesley Snipes. Helped by solid performances from the two of them and good character actors in the supporting roles this story remains watchable despite its cliched features. GRADE: C+
Lacks more than subtext: it barely has text. At times, the picture seems to have been edited with a blowtorch. But it gets the job done efficiently and swiftly.
