**Spoiler alert for both Prime and this show**
Transformers Prime, while reaching the end of the series, had some unsolved issues. During this time, Megatron ran away into self exile. This was used to cause the disbanding of the Decepticons. Less we forget Airachnid's story arc in which she is infected with vampirism. Hasbro and Polygon stopped the show right there which was the worst timing they could actually do. They decided to "make it up to us" by airing a more "toned down" version of the show that would "appeal to all audiences." They brought in the most overrated autobot in existence who now wants to play leader with a generic punky rebel, generic damsel stereotype girl, a heel face revolving dinobot and some random minibot who have the sudden urge to overthrow a new threat consisting of furriesrobots. Also, there's no sign of the other characters from Transformers Prime besides him and Optimus Prime.
Now we're stuck having to watch what Hasbro and TakTom viewsquality television with it's severely watered down fight scenes, lack of intensity, boring character designs, terribly designed weapons, little-to-no plot, monster-of-the-week style, lack of explanation and sudden interest in not bringing back characters who they should have brought back. Where did Megatron go? Did Starscream survive the predacons? Did Soundwave escape from the Shadowzone? Was Knockout imprisoned? How did Optimus Prime, who was going to die anyway, come back to life? How the heck did Megatronus become a Generic Doomsday Villain? Most importantly, why doesn't the cast consist of the new sparklings?
I've watched transformers prime with pleasure and joy, even the movie was great! I liked the details of every bot in the episodes, they where very detailed, justin the real movies , only much more easier to build in 3D. Transformers Prime was a great series ... until Robots in Disguise came up. Low graphics, no 3D, the bots weren't detailed which mad it way more bad. Of course there where some detailed cons in it, butyou could see in season 2 (spoiler now for those who didn't watch season 2 yet!), put Starscream aside the Insecticon, the Insection is way more better and more beautiful than Starscream. The makers just hanged on to geometrical figuressquares, boxes,... no smaller and detailed formsin transformers Prime! That's the thing what's making it downgradedit COULD be! So now to the makers, take an example from transformers Prime, if you want tho build an up following story to that series, you guys really need to adapt the bots, perspective, and, graphics because now it's a big disappointment for big transformers fans!
Although a sequel to Transformers Prime (2010), it will star a new Autobot team, so it is not known whether any of the other Autobot characters from that show will be returning. The series will have characters created using 3D computer imagery with cel-shaded graphics, and hand-painted, 2D backdrops. Hasbro's official description claims that "the series mixes action-packed adventure with lots of comedy, making it a rip-roaring experience for kids and families to enjoy together."
This lighter, more family-friendly approach is a departure from the predecessor series Transformers Prime (2010), more closely mimicking its sister-series Transformers: Rescue Bots (2011), which studies have shown to be enjoyed very much by kids both young and older, whereas TF Prime was more meant to appeal to older viewers. Hasbro is interested in reaching out to this young audiencemuchpossible, because a darker and less kid-friendly series wouldn't havebroad of an appeal, especially since the Transformers products are predominantly aimed at children. The astonishing success of their My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (2010) animated series has also shown that there is a huge market for lighter and more comedy-themed productions. Further, this series is basically meant for kids who have been introduced to the Transformers brand through Rescue Bots but have since grown out of that show, and is thus meant to appeal to a slightly younger crows than TF Prime.
Likewise, the Transformers Prime line had relatively bad sales and the show's dark, moody tone made it less popular than expected in some places (like in Japan, where they had to drastically rewrite the show to be more comedic and didn't even release its third season), and it also had bad ratings in the US (though this was mostly due to being shown only on Hasbro's now-defunct TV station, the Hub), so Hasbro is deliberately be trying to distance themselves from it by making their next series lighter and more comedic.
