About This Content

The Class 156 DMU, also known as a Super Sprinter, was built from 1987 to 1989 by Metro-Cammell as part of the effort to replace the ageing fleet of first-generation DMUs dating back to the 1950s. The Class 156s were all built as two-car sets, each set comprising a pair of driving motor units. Powered by 6-cylinder diesel engines, Super Sprinters are rated to run at 75mph and are used mainly for suburban and short-haul branch line duties. All units have now passed from British Rail ownership into private hands, and are currently in operation with a number of train operators including Scotrail, Northern Rail, East Midlands Trains, and National Express East Anglia.

**Please note that the Class 156 cannot be controlled using the in-game HUD driver interface or Xbox controller.

Don't know what everyone is complaining about. Absolutely fabulously modelled, well worth the money unlike most locos on train sim. Really complex and is a thrill to drive, very realistic and the sounds and graphics are fantastic.

10\/10. Very good DMU especially with all the recent bug fixes. There's a lot of liveries and scenarios for this train as well.. Beautifully rendered, nice sounds (for someone who has never ridden one of these). Unfortunately broken controller support - attempt to brake ends in emergency braking. The reverser is fickle, both using keyboard and controller. Some crazy framerate issues: framerate fluctuating wildly between 20 and 70 fps. Definitely more crashes than with other locos.

However, if you adjust your driving technique and learn to ignore bugs, you can still enjoy the ride.. Cool little train with many liveries good for almost every route!. DO NOT buy this unless you want a broken train that can only really be used as AI. For those that don't know, this item was deemed so bad by DTG themselves, they REMOVED IT FROM SALE. This is why the release date above now shows April 2016, dont be fooled, this is NOT new!!

The train itself dates back to the early days of Railworks and so doesn't even have basic upgrades like rain on the windscreen. It's also not compatible with any kind of controller and if you try to use the keyboard, you have to get into the habit of stabbing at the brakes otherwise a nanosecond press too long and you're in emergency braking!

For DTG to reissue this at full price knowing its faulty is dishonest. Unless it's \u00a33 in a sale and you really want one of these for AI in scenarios, run away!!!!. A nice but old model. Please note it doesn't show p in quick drive.. It`s a great add-on for train simulator I got on this train from glasgow to barrhead route I now love it now `it`s here:). Absolutuely rubbish. I got excited when DTG withdrew this add-on. I thought finally they are going to fix it. But, no.

The Class 156 hasn't been fixed at all. It still used way too much fuel to be used practically. I've just this minute driven it the appproximately 5 miles from Edinburgh Waverley to Edinburgh Park and it used 15 gallon per coach, about 14 times more than it should. For god sakes it used two of those gallons in one minute while sat in idle at Edinburgh Waverley. It also still rolls like the town drunk even at normal line speed and derails due to "consist tilt".

Dove Tail get your finger pulled out and fix this now!
