Ten years after a global economic collapse, a cold-blooded drifter traverses the scorched Australian outback on a mission to track down the men who stole his last remaining possession - his car. 10 years after a global economic collapse, a hardened loner pursues the men who stole his only possession, his car. Along the way, he captures one of the thieves' brother, and the duo form an uneasy bond during the dangerous journey.
A visually stunning and surreal film which left me perplexed and amazed. Guy Pierce is a marvel, who knew anyone could do so much with a script that is about ten words long, 'Under' acting at its best.

I never really thought much of Robert Pattinson up until now but he is also surprisingly excellent in his risky supporting role.

Very original, very Australian and definitely not a film for the masses, it's certainly open to interpretation. Shockingly violent,dark,gritty, confusing and awkward. But it's the best thing I've seen in years.

If you are bored with the ten a penny 'Blockbusters' that Hollywood churns out by the dozen then I would thoroughly recommend this thought provoking and refreshingly different film. Ten out of ten. Michod has proved that he's knowledge in directing is real in Animal Kingdom and with this movie, he proves that he can do any setting thrown at him and still make a great film.

The Rover is a film set in outback Australia 10 years after a collapse which sends the country into anarchy and the wild west. The film centers on Eric(Guy Pearce) and Ray(Robert Pattinson), as they delve into the dry and hot climate of the desert/Savannah biomes of Australia. They are 2 men who are on opposite sides of a conflict yet forced to work together by Eric in order to achieve the goal of reacquiring his car. The movie has violence and shows a gritty side to humanity when the need for immediate survival is the goal. It has strong violence, little dialogue but very meaningful when it's there, and beautiful cinematography and camera work.

The movie is very different from the usual fast paced cinema movie and moves at it's own pace which is why I do not recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced action-comedy adventure because you'll find none here. No one here is a hero or a "good guy". People here do bad things to get to their goal and will not be stopped. The Rover might not be about anything at all, but the dust it stirs up sticks to you after you leave the theater.
