Sarah has decided to trust Paul, although she's not sure if he truly is trustworthy as he goes to speak to Olivier behind closed doors. Sarah also gets some information from Mrs. S. about her past. Cosima decides to get closer to Delphine, who she believes is her monitor, although she has ulterior motives in doing so. For her own academic benefit, she also decides to keep in touch with Dr. Leekie and find out more about his neolutionist theories. Sarah and Cosima find that there is a tie between Olivier and Leekie, although they don't yet know what that tie is. What the clones don't know is that Leekie and Olivier know that who Paul is now monitoring is not Beth, but who they assume is the clone that is killing the others, which may put Sarah and Paul's lives in danger. Helena, believing she is the "original", continues in her mission to find and kill the clones, although she will only kill Sarah, with who she feels a connection, as a last resort. And at the police station, it is learned that the Jane Doe and bathroom killer have the same DNA. They decide to start from the beginning to try to piece together the information, which may uncover the evidence purposefully hidden by Sarah acting as Beth.
Paul now knows the truth about Beth, Sarah and the cloning. He has a meeting with his handler Olivier but keeps his knowledge of the information to himself. Cosima suspects that Delphine is her monitor and is confident she can control their relationship and any fallout that may occur. Helena is recovering from her wounds but tells Sarah she wants the names of the other clones. The police meanwhile have determined that the victim from the gravel pit and the killer in the bathroom have identical DNA. They assume it must be the same person or that the samples were tampered with. Sarah learns about some of her past from Mrs. S. Olivier receives orders to bring Beth in when medical tests reveal an impostor.
This episode felt like the polar opposite of the last one. That one was full of long separate story lines meeting. This one, on the other hand, felt somewhat disjointed. The police investigate the deaths, the blond clone (I finally learned her name; Helena) is sent to kill Sarah, Cosima continues to investigate the professor, Paul gets interrogated about Beth, and Felix investigates a techno genetic enhancement bar. If that sounds to you like a whole lot of disconnected things, then you'd be right. There were also some moments that felt very silly compared to what we've been given so far. The techno bar, the tail, and Helena's performance in particular felt strange in a disappointing way. The one part of the episode I really liked was the scene with Mrs. S. Her monologue about what she did to protect Sarah felt very real and emotional. This episode sets a lot of things up, and turns out weaker, but it looks like the next one is going to be REALLY neat.
