Returning home with his father after a shopping expedition, Wong Fei-Hong is unwittingly caught up in the battle between foreigners who wish to export ancient Chinese artifacts and loyalists who don't want the pieces to leave the country. Fei-Hong has learned a style of fighting called "Drunken Boxing", which makes him a dangerous person to cross. Unfortunately, his father is opposed to his engaging in any kind of fighting, let alone drunken boxing. Consequently, Fei-Hong not only has to fight against the foreigners, but he must overcome his father's antagonism as well.
A young martial artist is caught between respecting his pacifist father's wishes or stopping a group of disrespectful foreigners from stealing precious artifacts.

In my opinion Legend Of The Drunken Master and Supercop will always be Jackie Chan's greatest films.Legend Of The Drunken Master wont win any Oscars but its a good action/kung-fu film that fans of these sort of movies will love.Originally released in 1994 Legend Of The Drunken Master was re-released in 2000 in American theaters.I saw this film a while back but wow this film had the great Jackie Chan charm and some excellent fight scenes.If you like Jackie Chan films or martial-arts films add Legend Of The Drunken Master to your DVD collection.You wont regret it.

10/10 That's pretty much what I said the first time I saw this! I think I still like "Police Story 3" better overall, but this contains the most amazing fight scenes ever! Jackie plays half his age, and pulls it off brilliantly! I own the Chinese version, but I had to see the (still great) American version to witness this amazing choreography on the big screen. Truly a sight to behold, there's enough skill, talent, and entertainment here for a thousnd movies. More enjoyable every time, watch it! You can't possibly be dissapointed! Great humor, great story, GREAT fighting, one of the man's absolute top films, you'll never forget it, nor be able to view hand to hand combat the same way again--you'll beg to learn the art of drunken boxing!
It's a film with a silly story, and it's been dubbed laughably into English. Yet it's a transporting bit of fluff, full of zest, miraculous physicality and cheeky humor.
One has to differentiate between three versions. They only differ in the final scene. The International Version misses the whole finishing scene. In the US-Version this finishing scene is slightly longer, only the final shots have been cut. The only uncensored version can be found on the Chinese DVD.
