So far I've got 5 or 6 hours and I'm having fun. The story is pretty good so far; there were a couple of parts I found could've been done better with better pacing and execution but I have no real complaints.

The music is good, the characters are acceptable, the strategy and skills are good. The sprite work is good as well, especially for the engine used.

The main criticism is obvious, it is an RPG Maker game. The combat feels a bit less fluid than games with an ATB system as actions lock time for everything. Some other RPG Maker games got around this in creative ways using a bar to show upcoming turns which didn't make the combat feel jagged but instead made it feel more strategic.

My other criticisms are :
1) The crafting system which seems to show you end-game equipment in the UI... not a fan of that. Just in general the crafting system is a bit wack for me. I haven't crafted anything and instead am just using drops I found instead. Not optimal but it is a put off for me to have a dozen shops offering various crafting options.
2) Some text gets stuck under the UI box and you can't read it. This happens a lot in the journal and biographies; hasn't happened in the main game's text so far.
3) Not a big deal but there is no indication of hidden items at all and there are tons of them. I end up having to press to search pretty much EVERYTHING. I personally don't mind this but I think it will put off some people that like collecting but not endlessly searching.

All in all, I got what I expected so far. It's not a new Final Fantasy game, but it's a fun jRPG and it's rare to have good jRPGs these days.

. quot;...If we do not question our reality, we cannot understand it.
Without understanding, we shall forever walk in darkness, unable to enact change."

A journey that kept me hooked for its intriguing storyline and plot twists.
The character development is great (Considereing that there are 16+ playable characters)
But with every movie with so much cast, the later part of the games lacks much interaction or developement between the many characters... But the story more than makes up for it.

The gameplay was to my liking, it was challenging at first but proper strategizing made all the difference.
Usually i would select favs of a pool of characters and stick with them, but this game pushes you (In a good way) to utilize most if not all of them. (But you have ample opportunities to level the characters, so I didn't find it difficult)

Trying to get all the achievements (Currently at 80%) and about 80 hours of ingame play. Time and Money well spent!
Looking forward to future projects from you guys :). This was a suprise game for me. Im in chapter 4 and really enjoying it. Great challange for rpg playing.. Hey it's GuliGotGames from PAX East. I know I'm late to the party but I did buy and play the game as promised! Just got onto Chapter 1 and I'm already impressed! Keep up the good work!. The Great Gaias has been a blast to play so far. At only 20 hours in I feel like I've just scratched the surface of the story. Gameplay is hard enough to be a challenge but not obnoxious. I'd recommend this game to anyone who has been looking for an engaging rpg to put time into.. Ignore the total time, I played the game in offline mode because steam online sucks to high heaven and makes game crash in case your internet connection is out for a second. (Supposedly this is a Steam/Rpg maker V error?). Game took me around 70h to complete.

Overall score 7/10
Story: 8
Decent time sink with good ending taking around 60-70h. A few nonsensical plot holes including plot shields and plot deaths. There are too many characters and not enough character background development and side-missions to get to know them. Grammatical errors are common, but normally it's on tenses or other little things. The few side-missions we have are

Soundtrack: 6 most of the time, 9 in a few places (character screen, Frosthammer, final boss) Sewer theme reminds me of a FF track, cannot put my finger on which.

Gameplay: 5
There are few tutorials and you're bound to be stuck in some places because they don't explain what you have to do or where to go. Late game seems really rushed, and things like keeping all your weapons after being put in prison are huge eyebrow raisers. There's only a couple side-missions, not all characters get them. There's almost no mini-games and the single two I remember are not repeatable and reward is not even worth it.
Combat system is a mess, it's highly unbalanced against you at the start of the game so you need to grind asap, ideally lv5 at the start, lv15 after the ship encident, and lv20 after getting off the island. After that the game becomes really easy, but normal trash mob combat takes too long since AP system is not done properly and you need to accumulate AP in most battles. AP should always start at 10+ (character level / 2) NOT a d24 throw.
Boss fights are pretty decent (except for fallen and kraken early game which require some level grind)
Crafting system is edible but it's a mess to farm the stuff to equip all your characters, and it's completely useless to level up green weapons and gear. Yellow weapons will carry you through the game and are much better overall and you can equip them in everybody.
City building mechanic is very archaic and another grind to make even a single one. If you want to do achievements or get all items in game you need to build and rebuild the city 5 times. Ideally make merchant one and forget the others are even possible.

Anyway If you have the time to put into a semi-long game and you like/tolerate jaded story lines and RPG's then you're bound to have a good time playing it.

. Plenty of characters with fascinating stories; meaningful leveling system; lengthy, enjoyable storyline; Tony the Tiger says, "Grrrrrreat!". I've been on the hunt for a modern version of oldschool RPGs that would remind me of my dear FF 3/6, but most of them on Steam are short, 10-12 hour games littered with broken English and poor plots. Every time I played the Great Gaias, I felt some measure of surprise that it was a welldone, and fully fleshed out game with an interesting storyline that unfolds purposefully.. Can't recommend this. Looks like a megadrive port - and that's fine by me - but keeps freezing for 5 s every so often. Shoddy work especially given the steep price.. Hey it's GuliGotGames from PAX East. I know I'm late to the party but I did buy and play the game as promised! Just got onto Chapter 1 and I'm already impressed! Keep up the good work!. RECOMMENDED [when on sale] Ratings : 8/10 (Great story, Great game mechanics, Overpriced)

This is an excellent RPG Maker game that is extremely well made. However, currently it is way overprice at $30, and I would unequivocally recommend this game whenever it goes on sale at more than 50% discount.

What I love about this game is the epic storyline, the extremely well develop team of 17 NPC that you can recruit as your team members, each with their own background stories and individualized skills. Every one of the team member is different and unique and a delight to play. The game also have an excellent battle system and a very thought out crafting system, where you keep on crafting & upgrading your weapons and armors. You farm drops of various crafting materials from fighting monsters, mining and explorations.

Although this game is really good, I still feel that it is currently overpriced and not worth the full US$30. There are several other great games (even with ratings 10/10 like the "Last Dream") that are selling at a fraction of the price of this game. I own several hundreds RPG Maker games, and this is probably one of the most pricey game that I have bought.

I would recommend this game whenever it goes on sale, and you can buy it at more than 50% discount.

But your greatest challenge lies at the Summit at Khargynoth, the climactic Battle of the Blighted Lands, and infiltrating the inner city of Validus.

It is here that you will know true if you live up to the Warriors of Old... Do you have what it takes to defeat Eldromus Blackheart and his Dark Master?

Find out this week!. Kickstarter for our next title!:
Horizon's End would like to announce the Kickstarter campaign for our upcoming game, Codex Eternal: Gjallarhorn. Merging the Dungeons & Dragons experience into a modern JRPG genre, we hope to create a truly westernized fusion with Gjallarhorn. Crafted by the writers that brought you The Great Gaias, the continuing narrative will dive back into the lands of The Codex Eternal, expanding the lore and cultures of this decade long original campaign setting.

A day and night cycle will fuel a new and improved crafting system in this choice and consequence adventure. Gjallarhorn will incorporate new features such as a taming mechanic, (16) job classes, monster abilities, rune crafting and much, much more. Become a funder today and help us craft the next great story!
