About This Game

You think you know Battle Royale? This is Battle Royale distilled into its purest form. The game mechanics, the match pacing, and the online server performance are all tuned to provide the cleanest, rawest, most visceral competition on the planet. It's everything you need and nothing you don't.

In 2016, The Culling emerged as the world's first built-from-scratch Battle Royale experience. Featuring a lush island arena, brutal melee combat, and a long list of perks to help you define your play style, The Culling offered the most intense experience many contestants had ever experienced.

The Culling 2 expands on every aspect of its predecessor: The arena is now a massive space, with 20 square kilometers in which to explore, loot, and fight. In addition to the established melee combat system, a wide range of firearms are now on offer, from 9mm pistols to high-caliber sniper rifles. All ballistics have been carefully tuned to match real-world equivalents, making for tense and tactical firefights. With 50 players, the matches are set to be fast and brutal, while still accommodating players who prefer a more cautious approach.

If you think you have what it takes, it's time to suit up and compete in the next season of the original deadly game show: The Culling 2. 7ad7b8b382

I bought the game yesterday. I booted the game and there was no servers for the Asia region, RIP. NA-west/east is unplayable because of the latency and EU-lobby dont even fill up and my latency is off the charts there as well.
Overall the game feels like a game in alpha and like it was one of the first Battleroyale games ever to be made.

Cons:
- No servers for players in Asia.
- The Ironsights feel awful on every weapon
- Took about 10-20 minutes to fill a lobby with 34 people.
- Graphics feels uncrisp even on highest settings, and you cant really tell the difference between HIGH and medium.
- The recoil and weapons overall feels wierd when firing compared to other games.

Pros:
+Same default controls as PUBG, so if you played that game - your good to go!

How to get a refund?. This is absolutely abysmal for those who are looking to play a game similar to original The Culling.

It might be an okay take on H1Z1/PUBG hybrid, but you can't really tell since you rarely get to play with enough ppl to see the full potential. I mean, I don't get their promotion plan. Why the hell did they not show the game beforehand and tell us that this is a different take on BR than the original The Culling. Those who buy the game first are the ones who liked The Culling and expected the similar gameplay of The Culling. Of course they're going to downvote it if what they get is not what they want. Why would you call the game sequal to The Culling if it's a totally different BR game? Devs, you should've told us that this is not Hunger Game style BR that The Culling extablished itself as.

For now, I'll be waiting for The Culling 3.. For a start the trailer says more "cullinglier" wheres the actual game that was the culling the first few months of that was amazing all im asking for is honestly to fix the glitches Add "au" severs fix the gunplay add more melee like the original amazing game it was when it first came out Just gotta hope this doesn't end up like the first one oh and also just to add Terrible gunplay
"edit" Just to add before they add au servers they delay is insane it makes the game unplayable.. so lets review this ♥♥♥♥♥ aight?
its like h1z1 but worse and costs money....
only good thing is diversity in items and gun customisation but nothing that pubg hasnt done yet.....
melee is irellevant cuz ull find a gun....
despite the mediocre graphics and the very obvious things they took from culling 1 its alright if it was 5bux.
I would suggest that they sell this as a expansion for the normal culling since its basically just added guns a new ingame UI some reworked graphics a new map and parasuits...
anything over 5bux for this is unacceptable and as sorry as i am but i will refund this and wait until its cheap af or never buy it.....
also u wait long to get lobbys since the game is already almost as dead as culling 1....
i see no future for culling at this point unless they make everything into 1 game and make it goddamn free.....
I hope i could help someone by just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ out a bunch of my thoughts.....
i still like culling 1 but its ded game :(. So here's the thing. I'm writing a positive review because, in terms of other battle royale games, it's really not that bad. However, in terms of the hype from veteran The Culling players, the game is completely underwhelming and disappointing. The day one lobbies have been slow to fill and, from what I've both seen myself and heard from friends that I played the original with, don't even come close to the 50 player cap. Xaviant, this sequel is still underwhelming compared to the first. This plays like a lovechild between PUBG and H1Z1 that was left at a doorstep and adopted by an old and retired The Culling. Here's some good ways for you to work on fixing your game, Xaviant. I don't pretend to know or understand game design, but from a consumer's perspective, these are some pointers I would at least look into. Consider this my constructive criticism of a game I was more than willing to spend the money on.

  • Melee combat and Guns. The first game was entirely built on it and it's lackluster in the sequel. Guns used to give a player the edge, but with limited ammo, they were only used sparsely. Finding a gun in a drop or on another player after an intense fight was the most exhilarating feeling in the game. The second completely throws this out the window, as in my first match i was toting two automatic weapons with over 600 rounds between the two. I won that match by hip firing into two melee fighters while they tried to kill each other. I was expecting the weapon to be knocked out of my hands when they both turned and tried to rush me as it would have in the first, but I was pretty disappointed when I just loaded them with bullets as if they couldn't defend themselves. I've never felt more apathetic towards a BR win.
  • Viewpoint. A simple thing, one thing that makes The Culling unique is the fact that it was a first person game when others in the genre opted for third person. With the sequel following the trend it originally broke, it just makes the game feel like a bad clone. I played the Culling instead of PUBG in the beginning, besides many other reasons, because it felt so different, but the sequel doesn't deliver on that feeling. It doesn't feel like a sequel to the original at all. This point may not even be necessary, but it was something that made the original stand out and without it, it feels like a clone.
  • Map size and player count. I touched on it a bit earlier, but the game size and map size didn't go together. In the original, other players were a constant threat. However, in the sequel, players seem extremely sparse, especially since full lobbies seem extremely elusive. I waited nearly 5 minutes for the game to start with under half of the advertised limit. That just kinda sucks. To fix this issue, I would recommend dropping the player count to something lower, like 32. This is double the count of the original, so still a significant boost and still divible into 4 player squads, but much less than 50 to allow for faster and more intense lobbies. I would also definitely look into much smaller maps coupled with this, as the intensity of The Culling is completely lost in the sequel. At the very least, before any other maps are released, maybe already start each lobby with a great deal of the map covered in gas to limit the area of play initially to compensate for a smaller player count.
  • Downtime and Crafting. This is in part to the large map and low intensity, but the game has a great amount of downtime. One thing that is sorely missing from the first that could help keep players' attention is FUNC. FUNC worked with the crafting system to allow for a much more dynamic experience. A player could craft traps, ammo, different weapons, and even armor to give themselves the edge. Now, the player has to get lucky to find any of this. The small crafting system present in the original really helped the game stand out, but without it, the game feels even more like another clone that is already flooding the market.
  • Dropping in. This is one of the biggest issues I have with the game that makes it feel like a clone. The fact that there are multiple helicopters is really cool and a fun twist on conventional BR mechanics. But again, I'm calling back to the original. The starting pods helped add personality to the game, as you didn't know where you would start. However, the annoyance that came with this was spawning far from your teammates and dying separately. What I would offer as a solution, instead of multiple smaller planes (which I do enjoy, this is just a bit of nitpicking and nostalgia), is returning to the pod system. Instead of a random spawn, however, the pods could be dropped from a larger cargo plane and piloted towards a landing point, or perhaps, in a bit of showmanship from the producers of the show, shot from outside of the map mortar style into the playable area onto a point decided by the player. This way, we can retain the pods from the first game while also keeping with the dropping system that we, as BR players, have grown used to.
In short, Xaviant, we know you can make a good game. We've played it. Before, you were very receptive to feedback to the community, almost to a fault. You had a great game and more or less dropped the ball. We're not faulting you for that, you just wanted to make your community happy. Try to make us happy again. Make a game that breaks the mould, just as the original stood out amongst gritty Battle Royales that followed in its wake. This is a day one review, and I really hope that this review will be completely obsolete in time. Make The Culling 2 live up to it's name, Xaviant, and not another clone that we already have tons of. We all know you have the potential to do it. I know I believe in you to make this game the game it can be, and I know I am not alone in that.

Edit: This will remain a positive review. I don't hate this game, but I have returned it and until I believe it has lived up to the expectations, I will not consider purchasing again. I do want this game to succeed. Very badly. But until I feel it is at least on the path to succeeding, this will stay out of my library. Maybe drop the price or go F2P, Xaviant. That would help your playerbase, give everyone who kept their copies some kind of bonus items, cosmetics, or something else. Good luck Xaviant.. I GOT IN A DUO! THOUGHT I HAD 3 KILLS ALREADY THEN REALIZED THAT'S HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE IN THE SERVER. 10/10 Would Refund Again! P.S. Also, I never knew it was possible to RELEASE a DEAD game thanks for showing me the DOOR. LOL!. not a bad game but no players. I stubbed my toe on the way to install this game.

That was the most enjoyable part of the experience.

-------------------------------------------------

Everything that defined the original is dead and gone. Instead, we have a terrible H1Z1 knockoff. The brutal melee combat, trickery, and guerilla warfare complete with traps and bombs have all been replaced by generic gunplay that feels like a game demo disc from PC gamer back in the 90s.

The only elements that survived from the first game are:

- The crazy announcer (he can heard in the background and the loading lobby)
- Perks (although, half of them are useless now and have much less impact)
- Stims (yes, you can still have an Iron 4 Skin)

-------------------------------------------------

I hesitate to use the word 'scam' but it kinda fits here. Don't buy this game.

I'm glad that I didn't get a free key for this game, because now I can at least get the satisfaction of clicking the refund button.. Well, here it is, yet another Battle Royale, that mind you was announced and released in about 3 weeks time. I don't have a fondness of the first game, so I won't be complaining about the lack of melee combat mechanics or anything that most people are circle jerking themselves around claiming are the reasons this game is bad. This game is bad, but it's not for those reasons.

No the reason that the Culling 2 is a failure of a game in 2018 is due to the poor execution of the mechanics put into place. The gun play feels stale, the animations are clunky, and it just does everything that H1Z1, PUBG, and Island of Nyne (when it comes out) but worse. Objectively speaking this game reminds me a lot of several other battle royale titles, most noteably Radical Heights (yeah, remember that train wreck). Mainly because of how rushed and unpolished it feels compared to games like H1 or PUBG, which aren't even close to the most functional games in the world, but that is the bar we are going with. Where as Radical Heights was marketed as an extreme early access title and was nothing even close to the finished product, this game seems to be a full release, asking for $20 when I fail to see it's value as even a free to play title. The balls on this company to ask $20 for this game.

The gun play can be most easily described as hitting someone with a wet pool noodle, you know that you've hit them but you can't tell if it's done anything. Weapons have no weight to them, and bullet trails barely exist if they do at all. That combined with the sheer lack of weapon spawns in certain area's and it's enough to make anyone refund. Honestly the only reason I would be excited to go back to melee combat would be to not have to deal with the guns in the game.

The animations being clunky is nothing new to games, your camera changes before your stance every time you crouch or stand up which gives you a really jaring feeling when compared to something like h1 or PUBG. It's bad enough that I feel if I just spammed the crouch button I would definitely get motion sickness.

If you are looking for a new Battle royale to really get that itch that PUBG or H1 just doesn't touch, I recommend IoN, or Fear the Wolves when that comes out on the 18th. Just honestly anything other than this game, if it was a F2P Beta I would be a lot more forgiving but for something you have to buy into, not even close to worth it.
