Technology boom in health care

AI-featured devices and data management against diabetes, a prototype device to improve sleep quality and the world’s smallest pacemaker are showcased in Hall 7.1 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center.A SmartSleep Deep Sleep Headband, a Philips prototype, interested visitors who included an electronics retailer and hospital representatives.

With a sensor, Phillips can collect and analyze users' sleep data before sending out “waves” to improve the quality of their sleep. The product is expected to debut in China next year.

Ping An Smart Healthcare and Sanofi reached cooperation to fight against diabetes based on AI and a data management system at the expo. In China, there are more than 114 million diabetes patients, over 11 percent of the population.

Big data management is used to track and better serve patients while blockchain technologies are used to protect privacy and data, according to Ping An Smart Healthcare.

Meanwhile, Medtronic released capsule-sized pacemaker Micra, the world’s smallest pacemaker. It’s 93 percent smaller than conventional pacemakers with an estimated average battery life of 12 years.
