Sun Blast is the best 3d space shooter on Steam. Earn upgrades as you fight your way through a massive seleciton of levels.

In a period of 48 hours, an alien race utterly annihilated Earth's military forces. Only one colonial ship remains, and it's humanity's last chance.

Choose your starfighter and join the desperate counter-assault on the alien forces. You're massively overpowered and ridiculously outgunned, but with cunning and a lot of luck, you can prevail.

-- ipurwae.com. Recommended with reservations. The game IS fun, but it's really nothing like StarFox or Panzer Dragoon. The thing with those two games was there was an awesome story, and world, and... mythos. This game gives you "here's some things, shoot them".

There's nothing WRONG with that, but the game just seems like it's missing something, as the action isn't high-octane enough to warrant its exclusion, and that's also apparently what they were going for.

Anyway, as I said.. it IS fun for shmup / space shooter fans. Get it on sale tho.. The gameplay is pretty straight forward. Good controller integration. Why have multiple ships if they all have the exact same gun, and the maneuverability seems the same too. Needs variety, maybe more weapon options or missiles or something. I played for 25 minutes and will not play again unless there's a major update.. up and down keys back up ! very not used.. An enjoyable arcade shooter, pretty good music that fits the mood. Not sure I`d pay full price for it as there isn`t really much to it, but on the cheap, it`d be well worth picking up.
