Might be good for a first grader. The entire game only lasts a few minutes, very poorly done, bad graphics, bad controls. Don't bother.. Recommend with conditions. Realize this is a short demo which will get you on the list for the hopefully much better MMO beta when it comes out. It's obviously geared toward younger kids, which seems typical of NASA public outreach stuff, as if adults have no interest in space exploration. People have complained about the mushy controls, but it states that it's supposed to be a realistic Mars gravity simulation, so the awkwardness is probably just what you'd encounter with the real thing. Think they had an easy time fixing the Hubble Space Telescope in orbit? For a buck and change don't expect Half-Life 3. You will however learn how to triangulate someone's position with radio waves, and if you finish it you even get a badge.. Money Grab - very short , rather check out the free game on steam called moonbase alpha

When the game says 20 min adventure which turns into more then you bargan for IT DOES NOT MEAN THERE IS MORE GAMEPLAY but it is actually a 20 min adventure to save a guy that all you do is move around a little bit as a robot and get carried 10 feet in a plane that just happens to be there.. Math....you gotta love it..... It's a great game, it really is. I love the idea (Even though it's a bit kiddish and I feel like the game has too heavy educational undertones). Unfortunately, I wish the game had a bit more content before it was shoved out onto the market.

For $3, you get about 15 minutes of gameplay, which, as you can tell, isn't very impressive. However, the fact that the game is being backed by a state university and one of the most advanced centers of space technology and discovery in the world, I have some hope.

I'm just hoping it gets updated soon, because I really do want my money's worth.. Hugely disappointing, especially after the complex and interesting Moonbase Alpha. I've played more interesting and educational free flash games. I do hope this isn't representative of things to come with Astronaut Academy. Barely even passable as a mission-0 game tutorial. There's supposed to be 20 minutes of game intro here, but it's all "things move slow here" artificial padding, with barely 5 minutes of content extended by boredom.

Along with the poor scripting, the controls are horrible. Play it with a controller or don't bother. The mouse mode doesn't even trap the cursor, so get used to accidentally clicking away from the game window while trying to turn.

The only point of hope I see here for the continuing Starlite project is the visual design. While not AAA-level, the designs are interesting and engaging. And if the robots look a little cartoony... well, real space assistant robot design is headed that way anyway, if Japan has anything to say about it.

Bottom line, even as a sneak preview, this should never have been released on its own. And certainly not for purchase. As part of a much larger game, this would simply be a poorly-designed tutorial, and could mostly be ignored. On its own, there's little to balance out the horrible.
