A comic caper about Happy Singh, a Punjabi villager who goes through a series of misadventures and eventually becomes the Kinng of the Australian underworld.
Happy Singh lives in a small village in Punjab. He is always compassionate and helpful, but often ends up causing more damage so much so that the Village Panchayat gets together to reprimand him. When the community gets news that one of their residents, Lakhanpal Singh, is an underworld don in Australia, they decide to delegate someone to counsel him. The villagers chose Happy, so that they can get rid of him. Happy's ticket and other costs are paid for, and the Panchayat even asks a reluctant Rangeela to accompany him. Due to a mix-up, both end up in Egypt, leading to romance in Happy's life when he meets with Sonia, a Criminologist, who would prefer to have criminals killed than reform them. Both friends do find their way to Australia, where they locate Lakhanpal, who humiliates them and asks them to leave. Both befriend a boutique owner and live in her house. When rival goons attack Lakhanpal, Happy rescues him, and gets him hospitalized. Lakhanpal does recover, but is paralyzed. His goons comically misunderstand that he wants Happy to be Don, and he undergoes a transformation and moves in to live a wealthy lifestyle in Lakhanpal's mansion. When the boutique owner's daughter returns home along with her fiancé, Punit, Happy plans a charade to make her believe that the mansion belongs to her. Happy's life will soon be turned upside down when the daughter turns out to be none other than Sonia herself. Being aware of Sonia's dislike for criminals, he will have no option but to plan a lavish wedding for her, while rival gangsters, and even some of Lakhanpal's goons, plan to get rid of him.
I it very hard to rate a movie such as Singh is Kinng. The main issue with the film is that you would love to bash some of the overtly silly scenes and dim witted humor. But I do not think that it is a 'bad' movie. Its something that watchable enough, if you want to have some entertainment.

I wish they would've improved the B-grade script. For example, there were many cheesy dialogs and humor is completely wrong scenes. Like the one where Sonu Sood is injured and the others compare his injury to Sharukh Khan's in his movies and argue over the matter at such a wrong time.

Then there was a completely foolish side plot of Kiron Kher pretending to be rich and living in a house where people have guns as their toys. I mean, where does anyone find the time to write such a bad script and spend crores on it? Was Vipul Sharma drunk?

The songs were really good and the locations too suited the picture perfectly. I just didn't like the song in which Snoop Dogg was featured. Neither did he have his own space in the song nor was he needed. The song too was mediocre.

The drama in the movie was so not required. I mean, come on, you don't expect much drama in such a film. Plus, the love triangle sort of resembled the one in Namaste London when Akshay helps Katrina marry Ranvir even though he loves her. All is fine in the end. Yawn!

Katrina looks gorgeous in the film and her acting is good but she should try to improve as she was much better in Namaste London. Akshay isn't as likable as he was in his previous film, though he still hasn't lost the charm. Kiron Kher made me laugh sometimes but I just found her okay, as the role given to her became silly after a while. The side stories of the supporting cast ( The don's men and ladies) wasn't necessary at all. That was just to fill the gap or the movie would get too short.

I do not understand where did Vipul spend so much money in the film? I've seen more action in other films and most of the film just progressed in Sonu Sood's mansion where the love triangle went on and on.

Ranvir Shorey is terribly wasted in the film. Why was he given such rude lines? He just sleepwalked through most of the movie. Neha Dhupia was good and so was the supporting cast. Sonu Sood had nothing to do but was really funny. I especially found the scene where he was used to pass the drinks as he couldn't speak anything and his statue figure was taken advantage by his own men genuinely hilarious.

Overall, it is a likable yet a vulnerable film as critics like me would crush some of the absurdity in it. 6 out of 10. LAME, LAMER, LAMEST! Some movies are made for Cinematic greatness while others are made for pure entertainment. Singh Is Kinng belongs to neither of the two categories. Director Anees Bazmee cooks up the most indulgent drivel ever! Okay, so one would argue that before watching this movie you are supposed to leave your brains out of the cinema hall and enjoy thereafter. BUT even with the IQ level equivalent to an embryo in the womb, S.I.K. comes across as one of the most painstaking movies you could ever torture yourselves with! It tries to entertain through some of the most excruciating set-pieces (Akki trying to catch a hen and causing an Earthquake or whatever), puerile humor, non nonsensical screenplay and pathetic acting. Dead Egyptian mummies in place of these actors might have made things better and interesting.

Even the huge huge box office superstar of today Akshay Kumar with his acclaimed funny bone cannot salvage this film. Other great actors like Ranvir Shorey and Om Puri are criminally wasted due to the screenplay which seems to have been written by a 4 year old kid. And will somebody actually bother to give Katrina Kaif a reality check for she comes across as the most dumb actress on the silver screen. Acting, Expressions, Dialog delivery --- Zilch!

A note to the director: Bhootni Ke what were you thinking when you made this?

Please save yourself from this torture because this Singh is Sickening!
