When the Warstar Alien Armada plans to destroy Earth, an entity, by the name of Gosei, recruits a group of teenagers to become the Power Rangers Megaforce and eventually evolve into Super Megaforce. However, they need more power than they think to stop this armada. To achieve this, Gosei grants them the ability to use the powers of legendary Power Rangers, rangers from the past, and later unite with the actual Legendary Rangers for a huge, epic battle the Rangers have never encountered before.
When the evil Warstar aliens attack Earth, the supernatural guardian Gosei and his faithful robot assistant Tensou recruit five teenagers with attitude to combat the invading forces. Equipped with powers that grant them mastery over martial arts and other forms of combat, the teenagers transform into the latest champions of good: The Power Rangers Megaforce!
Power Rangers used to be awesome. It was cheesy, epic, awesome fun. Megaforce was made to play off your nostalgia for past Power Rangers. Instead, it takes a big dump on it all. It isn't a good cheesy, it's a bad cheesy. The acting is incredibly bad. I have no more to say. Power Rangers: Samurai was the last good Power Rangers.
When this originally happen, I had extremely high hopes. As someone who watched Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and nearly ever PR series, I dreamed of how they'd take all the Sentai tributes that became Ranger series and how awesome it'd be to see all the past Rangers. When I heard that only a few would appear, I was okay. When I saw Megaforce, it wasn't that great, but it was somewhat watchable. When I saw they'd include Dairanger in there, I was okay. I was excited about the whole thing. But Super Megaforce rolled around, took 20 years of Rangers history, and through it out the window! The script was laughable, the plot ridiculous, and where they got an alien invasion right in Megaforce, they got it ALL WRONG in Super Megaforce. If that's not bad enough, the characters are awful and horribly acted! Besides Noah, the black nerd who is like a modern Billy, and Jake, the wise guy (always one of the best Ranger character types), the characters are bland, and not in the lovable way seen in the original Ranger series. Not to mention, they took out a bunch of Ranger tribute episodes (Time Force, Ninja Storm, Lost Galaxy (not counting that one bit of original footage), Lightspeed Rescue, Operation Overdrive (the worst Ranger series, only now surpassed by this), Zeo, In Space, and Alien Rangers (not too big a lose there)) for a bunch of nonsense filler and episodes that include some Sentai teams with little to no explanation other than "Powers never seen before on this planet." And if that's not the worst, they built up the Legendary Battle for years, but have only 11 Rangers, and 90% of the footage is just the 199 Sentai battle, with some new footage of only the Megaforce Rangers and ONE shot of the pink Turbo Ranger. That's not even a GOOD Ranger series! Not to mention, they milk JDF's return, and show no footage of him, besides the walk in the beginning and that nonsense sparkling scene at the end. As quoted by Wes of Time Force, the Legendary Rangers may be proud of them, but the fans sure aren't. Myself included. I'm just grateful it's over and come 2015, Judd Lynn will return for a Dino team return. Please, Chip. Please make Neo Saban PR good.
