Powargrid is a turn-based strategy game that plays like a board game... with explosions!

Destroy your opponent's power plants and protect your own. Strike a balance between attacking, defending, and building your economy to control the board. Blast your opponent with shockwave towers or strike them from afar with the lightning cannon. Construct additional power plants to boost your power economy and extend your reach with substations. Is the situation looking exceedingly grim? Overcharge your power plants for a last ditch defense or a surprise attack!

Plan your moves carefully: as with any turn-based strategy game, make tactical decisions and work with the outcome
Your leader knows best: Commander Grak knows it all and is not shy to share his thoughts. Hear him out, or dismiss him straight away and focus on the action
Challenge all: demonstrate your skills in the campaign mode, multiplayer (online/hotseat/local) and skirmish battles
Tinker with the AI: an API is provided that allows you to program the most fearsome opponents possible

In the story driven campaign, you will take on rival factions as a recruit in the Blue Blobbie army. Get shouted at by your lovable Commander Grak, face down Hero Archeologist Ford of the Red Blobbies, take on the mad green Zealot Zomg, and thwart the schemes of Chairman Swap of the Grand Yellow Blobbie Corporation. And rumors say that's not all...

Excellent game. Simple without being uninteresting, genuinely laugh-out-loud funny, without trying too hard. It took me hours to get through the campaign on Normal difficulty, but I think the difficulty is just right. Only on one level did I feel that I actually needed to be really lucky to make it through.

For $10, this game is a steal.. TLDR: This game has been worth it for me, and I would recommend you and a friend to get it.

The campaign for this game is very fun and has several twists. The only way to win is to try and try again until you have found the perfect build order. There is a lot of humour and the devs obviously put some time into the storyline. The campaign really helps you learn the game so that a tedious tutorial is not needed (it is within the campaign and is not tedious).

The multiplayer has potential. Currently, there are only 1 v 1 battles, but the devs have stated that more options are being worked on. 1 v 1 battles are fun; my friend and I have probably played 10 matches since we bought the game. We have both observed that if we could have a lot more fun, however, once there can be 4 player free for alls and 2 v 2 matches.

Overall, this game is great, and has potential to be even greater. Currently, if you want to play multiplayer, you need a friend with the game, but the community is growing, so that may not last very long.

For $10, this game is a steal.. I picked up the game because of the AI development aspect. I haven't gotten to that point yet, just playing through the campaign to better understand the game. I recommend checking out a let's play to see if the game is your style.

This game lets you take delightful tower defense mechanics and use them offensively. I'm part of the way through the campaign and have greatly enjoyed the dialog so far. The missions are well balanced to either require good understanding of a new mechanic or are checkpoint for macro game understanding. Expect to lose a bit on normal, you'll develop a style and better build orders as you experiment and have your mistakes punished.

I hope to try out the AI dev tools soon, I'll try to update this review with info about that when I give it a try.. A strategy game with with an intriguing concept, and an engaging story. It makes a good attempt to do "easy to learn, hard to master". Unlike most that make that claim, this one could be right, but it fails because we don't get the chance.

There is a cartoony storyline, which works very well because a) it's a bit of fun that has no impact on the game and b) you can skip it completely. The strategy is challenging without crossing the line into "I can't be bothered"

Good, simple, strategic turn based fun.

And, the negative points:
Orange is a bit too rude
Under-expansive - I beat the wyrm and orbital bombardment, how can I now use them?
