Paradiddle lets you explore your percussion skills freely in a flexible and responsive VR environment. Drag and drop as many drums as you want from your palette. Arrange and scale them with ease to create the setup that works best for you. Save custom drum sets and load your favorites whenever you come back.

Virtual Drums, Realistic Sound

In Paradiddle, drums give off different sounds based on a variety of factors, with some drums supporting over 100 sounds just based on how hard they were hit. Certain percussion instruments, such as the ride cymbals, also play different audio samples depending on what part of the instrument was hit.

A Platform for Sharing and Learning

Record your songs and share them with others in the Paradiddle community. In a song playback, Paradiddle uses visual cues to show when each drum is about to get hit. Speed up, slow down and play along to a recording in a uniquely immersive learning environment—or just sit back and the watch the show.

The current list of playable drums are: hi-hat, bass drum, snare, 3 types of toms, 2 types of crash cymbals and 2 types of ride cymbals.

MIDI input/output support. MIDI devices (such as electronic drum pedals) can be integrated into Paradiddle to trigger any drums within the environment. Likewise, Paradiddle can also send MIDI output, which means you can use the app to trigger your own samples in your favorite digital audio workstation. This transforms Paradiddle into an extremely powerful audio creation tool.
Peripheral integration. In addition to MIDI devices, any peripheral that can emulate keyboard input (such as USB pedals) can be used in Paradiddle as a way to trigger the kick drum or control the hi-hat.
Customizable controls. Remap your VR controller buttons to different actions such as opening/closing the hi-hat or triggering the kick.
ASIO Support. Audio enthusiasts that want maximum customization of their audio settings can switch their output device to ASIO. By default, the app uses WASAPI, and a lot of time was spent to ensure that the latency was kept to a minimum with the default settings.
Customizable drum sound options. You can customize settings of individual drums, such as their pitch and max volume. These settings will expand in the future to give users greater control over the sound that comes out of their drums.
Ability to load and play back audio files from your system as you play on your drums.

As far as VR drumming apps go this is by far one of the most promising i have gotten to use. Unlike some others there isn't much in the way of delay between the strike of a drum and sound feedback. Moreover the Dev is actively helping with issues while striving to do performance and feature upgrades. For the pricepoint by far one of the best, if not the best, drumming app even as is in its current form, and looks promising to only improve as time progresses.

Be advised that this isnt so much a game as it is a drumming app so if you are looking for a "true game" this isn't it, however if you are looking for a virtual drum set that mitigates delays and performs well this is certainly the app for you.

Pros:
1. Low delay on strike for the most accurate drumming experience i have found on steam.
2. Active development discord
3. consistent updates to address bugs and add features
4. Foot pedal support is always a plus!
5. Fully customize the size of your drums and the lay out, save it, and pull it back up on the fly.

Cons:
1. As of this review it is still a work in progress and needs some polishing around the edges.
2. Currently, while not "bare bones" it still has lots of room to add features but again, developer is very active so in time i have high hopes.

Final Verdict:
Strongly recommended for anyone looking to play drums in a virtual enviorment with a more realistic feel.. After spending more time with it - it's absolutely great. I don't have anything to do kick with my foot, so maybe I'll get myself some cheap keyboard just to mash space with my feet, but having kick hidden below one of hihats and having kick binded to all possible buttons I still can make a lot of non-nonsense noise for a lot of songs.
if anyone of you just wondering if ya should buy it then don't and just do it. it's fun and suspiciously similar to workout. replace drums with rats. Finally! A VR Drum game that can use a foot pedal!

The foot pedal and midi integration sealed it for me. I can practice without getting evicted ;)
I can open a window with Phase Shift through Oculus Dash into my Paradiddle session and the two talk to each other over Midi. It was pretty simple to setup. Now I can play Phase Shift in VR with Paradiddle and not annoy anyone.. I really love this. Never played drums but always wanted to.

Not really sure the issue with the kick drum when using midi out though. My DAW (Fruit Loops) and using the loopmidi, seems to push through an extra kick. I am using superior drummer and even muting everything results in a kick coming through. I turn the in-game volume of the kick to 0 and it's still there.

Cymbals and snare and toms work fine, just the kick.

if the program could handle another foot pedal for cymbals, it would be perfect.
Very light program too.. This is a very cool VR drum simulation !
If you can't buy a real drum, you can find very good feelings with that.
You can connect e-drums pedals via midi (or usb pedal), and use drum sound from your laptop if you wish, ther is no delay between the strike of a drum and sound feedback.
The developer is listening and very active (discord).
All my encouragement for the future features :). Update 12.02.2018:

Giving this a second try, I had much more success with this and it feels a little bit better. Velocity curves might need an adjustment but other than that it's working great. The possibility to map input notes to MIDI makes it work really great together with Superior Drummer 2 after having everything setup.

One major plus here is that the developer is very supportive and open to feature ideas so if you have any problems you can always join one of the social channels and get support.

With this update, I'm also changing my review from negative to positive. For this price it's fun, well done and the level of support you get is better than what you would expect for the price.

After a relatively quick test here's my first findings, I will continue to add to this later on:

Pros:
- You're completely flexible in setting up your drum kit
- Recording and replay features are nice

Cons:
- Snaredrum has no rim triggers
- Cymbals are really missing some additional triggers. It should have Bow, Bell and Edge. Right now it sounds like it only has an edge trigger.
- Being able to choke the cymbal would be a nice touch

Currently the cons are outweighing the pros for me but this might change with future updates.
