At this stage there is nothing to recommend about Oval. Disclosure: I participated in the closed beta for the game and was given a free copy for it.

If you were a fan of shooters like quake, tribes and unreal tournament, and have been looking for a vr shooter that moves as fast - I highly recommend this game.

Oval provides a really fun and fast paced first person shooter experience with quick fluid motion and high flying acrobatics.
So far, the gameplay is pretty basic with a capture and hold game mode with a few weapons available. The main feature is the locomotion system which has you hovering on skates and using thrusters on your elbows to direct your motion. The hover skates let you move around pretty fast and with momentum and with the designs of the official maps, you can use this momentum to zoom around and even fly above opponents while you shoot them. Additionally, on your off hand, you have a booster which gives an extra thrust in the direction you point your controller, allowing for quick changes in direction or just more speed in the direction you're already moving. Together, this locomotion system allows you to go really fast, make really cool moves and get a great arena FPS feeling, without feeling motion sick!

The developer has been very responsive in discord and takes a lot of suggestions from the community and implements them very quickly. At this stage, I have had a lot of fun playing and foresee a lot more fun in the future with more maps and game modes to come.

The developer has also implemented a skill tree with different abilities. So far, I find that these give you a few options for different achievements and playstyle without giving players with more hours superpowers. So far, they are pretty well balanced.

In all, a great little shooter with a lot of potential for growth especially with user created maps.. Super Fun game!!! And the Dev just keeps making it more and more awesome with every update!!
. I was sitting down at work about three days ago, thinking to myself "I just want a shooter that makes absolutely no sense. Something where you're flying around, shooting people and stuff"--This is the exact type of game I was thinking about.
No body was playing when I was playing, but even just playing with bots was AMAZING.

Hope more people play and that's all I can say.. I bought this game on a whim after seeing the new map on Reddit. I am very happy I did, it has some of the most satisfying movement and gravity I've experienced in VR. It's real floaty so when you hit something at speed you launch into the air, and when on the ground you're moving quite fast.

There aren't a whole lot of people playing and the matches are P2P, so if you connect with someone far away there will be lag. That said, the bots are actually pretty fun to play against (they're pretty brutal on hard mode).

The developer is very active in Discord and in-game and seems to be pretty cool about suggestions as well as fixing bugs and issues. I'm pretty excited to see where this game goes and I'm glad I bought it.. Wow this game is absolutly wonderful. The controls take a little while to understand but once you have them the game play reminds me of Halo! I was having fun the entire time I was playing and this is automatically going into my top of my favorite games! The only suggestion I would have is to try to make the level creation a little easier to understand. This was is going to be huge though! Great job devs you guys have something really amazing here!
