Only If is a surreal first person adventure-puzzle game. You play as Anthony Clyde, who, after a heavy night of partying, wakes up to find himself in an unfamiliar bed with no memory of the previous night's events. Unfortunately, escaping these unfamiliar, opulent surroundings will prove to be no easy task, as an unseen, menacing, radio-bound antagonist will stop at nothing to block Anthony's path at every turn.

The game's mechanics are designed to be experimental and unpredictable, to defy the logic of "What you see is what you get". Is the environment changing around you, or is it your imagination? Will jumping to your death kill you, or will it save you? Could the wrong answer actually turn out to be the right answer?

don't play this high.. If it wasn't for H2O Delirious (youtuber), I wouldn't of ever found nor knew anything about this game unless I kept looking deeper into the Steam Store. It took me about 10 hours to actually beat the game. So many confusions, 18+ Language and well detailed. The ending is what just a twist.
12/10 for me, keep up the good work. This is gold to me... For free you could definitely do worse. The message is pretty cool and it also has some interesting mechanics and good/bad design. It helped me think about how to design videogames to accomplish goals and convey things to the player as well as different mechanical ideas.. Awsome game. Game doesn't seem to be playable.

The character looked at a house, and then woke up in a room where he insisted at staring at the ceiling. If I held a mouse button I could temporarily drag his view downward, but it was a constant struggle, as he insisted on looking straight up. There seems to be no in-game way to exit the game (e.g. Esc, Pause\/Break), so I alt-tabbed to another program in order to kill the game from the taskbar. I gave the game another shot. The second time, the character actually moved to the door of the house before the scene changed, but again he was fascinated with the ceiling. To be fair, the skylight was pretty cool, but it doesn't make for a good game.. Only If is the sort of puzzle sequence/fever dream that would arise if you happened to find yourself drugged by a psychopath who has access to a house full of intercoms. Since that appears to be the plot here, I'd have to call that a success. It's an interesting concept and the puzzles along the way are solid. The game's short and is free. This would usually be the part of the review where I ask you why you've waited to get into this game. However, none of that promise ever goes anywhere.

Near the end, it does seem like all the absurd ranting that makes up the plot is starting to lead to some grand conclusion, and then it abruptly doesn't. I was left feeling almost foolish having strained to hear all that dialogue as it constantly shifted between a howl and a whisper. There also doesn't seem to be an option for subtitles, which is odd for a game that relies so completely on its voice-overs.

On top of the oscillating audio, the screen constantly bobs slightly, likely to mimic the protagonist's drugged state. I couldn't manage to finish the game in a single session - despite only a two or three hour runtime - due to the motion sickness that “clever technique” gave me. Considering the top thread in the game's discussion board, I'm not the only one so affected either.

I have played games far less ambitious, far less intriguing, and far less polished than Only If. And while the game is by no means a failure, I can't say it's worth the headache.. Loved this game. I was very stoned at the time when I played it, but I was so drawn in.

Weed\/10. Tries to be deep and surreal, only succeeds in being confusing and sometimes nausea inducing.. I'm gonna be honest, a few levels are utter trash. The movement is pretty bad. But the ending. Dear god the ending.

That was amazing. You have to suffer a bunch of it, and some of the riddles are vague. But you know what. The ending is great. Like I was satisfied that that was the ending. And I am a cynical bitter sadistic bastard who hates everything.
