The research would again sit on the shelf. It was only when the media discovered hoodia, did it warrant another look. In the United States, CBS's "60 Minutes" profiled the plant in 2004. Correspondent Leslie Stahl reported that after trying hoodia, she had no side effects and wasn't hungry. She would recount "I'd have to say it did work". Tom Mangold, a BBC correspondent, essentially reported the same thing. Mangold reported that he and his cameraman "felt good" after taking hoodia. "Our brains really were telling us that we were full" he added. This worldwide attention led to people rushing to check out hoodia.
