i found this game randomly by scrolling through my recommended list and after completing the game i have to say this was a suprizing amount of fun. i really enjoyed hunting down the plot points to unravel the story. i recommend playing this game if you want to have fun while uncovering an interesting story.. a bizarre, shifting wilderness. the only way out is in.. I "beat" the game in just under 2 hours. Was a very interesting puzzle at first. Once you figure out what the various things do and how to progress, it is slightly tedious but not at all awful. Least interesting part was looking for the sound blips (if there was some special trick to it other than a methodical search, I never figured it out). If you are familiar with Earth geography, then you can guess at some of the structures just by the frequency labels. If you are not familiar with Earth geography, searching the web for some of the labels can show you the inspiration for the structures. Admittedly there were some that I had not heard of before. Bought it for $1 during winter sale. I don't think I would have paid $5 for it though. That's just my valuation of the product. I still am going to recommend it because I would like to see more weird experimental and exploratory puzzle games.. A gorgeous exploration interactive that communicates an incredible experience of discovery, loneliness, and (in)competance. The myriad of ways to shape your exploration and the subtle narrative are fantastic additions to an already amazing sandbox experience. Highly recommended.. This is like nothing you've played before. Open your mind and be careful.. Very interesting experience. It doesn't give you any hints whatsoever, meaning its a sort of highly-experimental puzzle-exploration game. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a fun brain tease. I got stuck at some points, but still managed to complete the whole thing in 2 hours.. If you're stuck inside for an afternoon, this is a fairly satisfying waste of time. The "plot" can probably be summed up in a sentence, but this is basically an elevated flash puzzle game that makes you feel clever for managing to figure things out. If you open it up and don't understand anything up at first, don't look up a walkthrough. The entire fun of the game is figuring out how to actually play it, and once you're done with that all it is is a pretty color generator.. Play this game.. Wow, this is a new level of obtuse weirdness. But it's quite enjoyable if you like pure exploration and discovery.. Mu Cartographer is a relaxing game about discovering a foreign land through the lens of journals kept by the explorers who have gone before you. The only tool you have is a mysterious machine whose inner workings are left to you to figure out. Gameplay is fairly straightforward - use the machine to discover new things. Initially, the problem is understanding what all the bells and whistles do. But soon enough, the game revolves around finding locations and solving mini-puzzles in order to discover more things. One complaint I have is that it becomes a bit tedious to find new locations if I have no idea where to look, but the thrill of discovery keeps me going. Overall, I recommend this game to those who are interested in the central conceit of having nothing explained to you. You are left alone to wander through the marvels of this enigmatic, multidimensional land, where the seas meld with the mountains, and the mere act of observation is enough to transform the world.
