Fun and challenging, but i hate the ladderface. This game has a few minor issues as of version 1.0.7 and they're mentioned in my video, (down below) other than that, this game is fun. If you happen to enjoy Metrodvania style games, and mildly racist enemies, then this game is for you!

The game difficulty is quite high but not impossibly so for an average gamer like me. Using an xbox controller I had not difficulty with the controls or their responsiveness. The exploring was great and I like the fact that rewards\/abilities you recieved were not necessarily anywhere near where you needed to use them nor was it always immediatly obvious what they were for. There is alot of backtracking but that is fine and all part of the exploration and finding those secrets.

Some rewards were very disappointing for the effort in obtaining them, I health potion for all that effort\/backtracking - really! - but I am hoping this will be rectified in the full release.. Failed attempt at a metroidvania game, avoid at all costs. Cheap deaths, annoying difficulty curve and a horrible melee mechanic turn this game from what seems like a promising title into a big disappointment!. BUILD: Beta 1.0.2

Momento Temporis is a metroidvania 2D action adventure platformer featuring pixel-art graphics. Explore the world and learn spells, fight bosses and lots more in this magical universe. The game was made by Burning Ice Games and published by 501 Industries.

I received the game for free after writing a feedback article on another 501 game; Pro Gamer Manager. I was then sent the Steam code for the game and after watching the trailers I couldn't wait to get to play it, I downloaded it as soon as I could and gave it a try.

I haven't got very far into the game yet but in my experience the game has been very good; the soundtrack is rather good and the gameplay it self is pretty good too, I personally love the combat system and how simple but challenging the game is; it takes what classic platforming should be and makes it great; keeping the retro feel while it's at it. I haven't got into any big puzzles that the game promises yet or faced any of the bosses and I can't wait to get further into the game to see some of those things.

Personally I love the graphic style. The 8-bit graphic style makes the game run on any PC and is still very attractive while doing so. The retro style is also attractive to almost everyone; older gamers love that the retro feel is there and younger gamers can get straight into it as the gameplay is easy to play and looks great too. The one thing that I absolutely loved was the 8-bit lens flare which occured when I was playing. It looked amazing and it just sums up why I love the style.

One notable thing is that the game throws you straight into the deep end as it currently features no tutorial. This left me a little confused when playing the game as I had to look at the controls before I could get straight into it. I was also stuck when the character (who I haven't learnt much about yet) talks at the very start of the game; a little "Press () to continue" would be nice so that people didn't have to go through every key.

Of course, remember that this game is currently in Beta. I will most likely come across bugs while I play but these will surely be fixed in the future when the game is fully released. I currently recommend this game as it's a great 2D platformer which is sure to evolve in the future. The price is a bit high and I'm not sure if I would pay 7.99 while it is still in Beta but I would 100% pay full price in the future when the few issues are fixed and more things are added.

- Classic and great gameplay; great combat system
- Awesome platforming mechanics

Cons:
- Needs a more in-depth tutorial
- Throws you straight into the deep end

In conclusion, I can't wait to play more of this game and see it evolve. Good job so far!. This is an Early Access game that decided to pretend it was complete. It's not, and it straight up tells you so after a certain point. Decent mechanics, solid execution, a good idea behind it all, but I don't give a thumbs up to dishonesty.. This game is HARD! But you know what? It is a really good challenge.

Momento Temporis is a 2D action platformer that many people compare to the Dark Souls. Just like with Dark Souls the game is really difficult yet still fair about it. You will die a lot in this game, but it will keep you coming back for more.
