It started with early man and has progressed to today. Unfortunately we are inundated with false information by those who want to exploit us and are more concerned about their bottom line as opposed to our health and the criticality of proper nutrition to be healthy.

Early (Neanderthal) Man - Was he vegetarian or a carnivore? The answer is simple he was an omnivore (both). Survival was based on the conditions during his existence. During the Ice Age when vegetation was scarce he survived on animals. But anthropologists believe that early mans food consisted primarily of vegetables fruits nuts and seeds. By combining them with calcium-rich wild greens he was able to get all of the vitamins iron protein fats and carbohydrates that he needed. His food was 90% plant food.

The Pythagorean Credo - When man started recording his history in scriptures and testaments meat-eating had evolved. Even in the Old Testament Daniel taught the wealthy meat and wine consuming King Nebuchadnezzar the superiority of a vegetarian lifestyle. The earliest recorded vegan lifestyle in the 6th Century B.C. was the Pythagorean Credo.

Pythagoras taught Do not defile your bodies with sinful (meat based) foods. We have corn... sweet-flavored herbs and vegetables... that offer banquets that involve no bloodshed or slaughter. Pythagoras ate millet or barley bread and honeycomb in the morning and raw vegetables at night. Pythagoras Hippocrates (Father of Medicine) Socrates Plato Seneca Ovid and Virgil all advocated vegetarian lifestyles.
