When the corrupt minister Geza Mott demands more taxes from Lord Bartok, he goes to his castle with Commander Raiden and his knights. He challenges Geza Mott and tries to kill him but the Emperor sentences him to be beheaded by Raiden. Further, he deprives the castle and lands from his family. Geza Mott asks his commander to follow Raiden and builds an iron gate in the entrance of his castle expecting revenge, but Raiden prefers to drink instead becoming a drunkard. One year later, the knights want to seek revenge against the dishonor of their Lord. Geza Mott has neglected his security since Raiden is an alcoholic bum. What will happen to Raiden?
One of the memorable movies to be remembered. Fascinating and breathtaking as a great action movie must be. The medieval style is a immense world to any person with creativity explore and with many fans all around the world. In this movie the characters were pretty well represented, the costume and the make up detailed in a brilliant way. The soundtrack and the special effects were well balanced. The plot is quite interesting and Morgan Freeman brings that touch of super production to it. In the story I just miss that sexy woman that make you fall in love by her, even she would be a bad person. In summary, the movies stirs your instincts from the start to the end.
I was curious and very interested to watch this movie. Firstly because in this movie unexpectedly director (Kazuaki Kiriya) cover themes like equality, multicultural society, ethnicity, race and all of this in the Middle Ages. Secondly because in this movie played very good actors like Clive Owen, Morgan Freeman, Cliff Curtis and Aksel Hennie. However my curiosity, delight and fascination of this movie was unexpectedly gone. Why!? Well, I would not write a full five paragraph essay, I will just list some of the mistakes that not accepted and inappropriate.
1. Genre of this movie: "Action" and "Adventure"; not "Fantasy" or "Mystery". Of corse I didn't seen anything that related to the "History" genre but whole conception of the movie trying to tell us that "it might be happened but unfortunately LOST". So ,why when the Bartok (Morgan Freeman) lose his title, procedure of loss so easy and his family exile so "comfortable"!?
2. Of corse I understand and it is obvious that in the Middle Ages there are not a lot of goods, jewelers, wealth and "cool stuff", but why knights burn all this in stead of take it in Bartok's (Morgan Freeman) house!?
3. I was so surprised when I heard that Knight Ito (Tsuyoshi Ihara) explained to Gezza Mott (Aksel Hennie) details of Knights code of chivalry. Seriously!?
4. Conception of "Ronin" who made a very smart and crafty plan, is too obvious for Kazuaki Kiriya, whose movie mostly cover loyalty and fearless topic. (I have seen already "47 Ronin" (Director: Carl Rinsch) almost one year and a half)...etc.
P.S: The main thing when you create the movie that covers a new theme, is to not ruin it and created with clichés! this old-school international hodgepodge production is weighed down by a lumbering humorlessness and a glacial pace that makes it seem far longer than its 115 minutes.
