About This Game
Knights of Tartarus is a role-playing game where you enter the underworld to fight off a legendary order of knights and save the world. To have a chance, you will need monsters to teach you their spells, craft items, solve puzzles and even compete against your rival.FEATURES
Explore an open world and travel into the magical monster dimension called Tartarus. You'll find many friends and not so friendly characters along the way.
There are many regions each containing unique puzzles, treasures, and enemies.
Fight against magic beasts to gain spells, crafting materials and gold. Each monster holds special and unique abilities which can be learned. Monsters also give you crafting materials for making equipment. Additionally, there are skill upgrades that can be gained by leveling up. These give you special perks like performing combo moves or becoming immune to paralysis, and much more.
Great and varied soundtrack.

Fun little retro RPG with well made puzzles and sweet music. The dev is quick to respond and fix problems people may have. It may be a little tricky for some but with enough persistence you'll be sure to find your way.. Just purchased and installed on Mac.
Clicked play, failed to load with this error:

Followed the steam support guide:
Reinstalled, cleared cache, checked file integrity, ect.
No luck.
Navigated to folder and found .../common/Knights of Tartarus/ only contained two files:
mac_content.app and version.txt
Clicking on mac_content.app started the game, although the text was off to the side, not within the 'game frame' as shown in online videos.
Renamed mac_content.app to Knights of Tartarus.app and everything seemed to load properly.
A little tearing while walking down large corridors, like the castle.
Music nostalgic, controls should be more obviously displayed:
arrow keys to move, X to 'go back', z or space to menu, return to select

This game leaves a hell of a first impression. Anyone who is a fan of early JRPGs like Dragon quest will immediately fall in love with the game's simple turn based combat system. The story thus far has been intriguing, and the sprite work and music have fit the sort of mysterious tone that the game presents you with early.
All in all, a VERY strong start for what I believe will be a very good game.
tldr; if you like jprgs, BUY THIS. Knights of Tartarus captures the oldschool rpg feel so well. The graphics just fit what the game is going for, and there's plenty of enjoyment to be had. I recommend anyone interested in nostalgia hitting you in the face to check it out. It's that good.. I've been with this game for a while now and I just have to say that I absolutely love it. Lots of games can get that retro style down so well but not many get that feeling down quite as well as this game. Fun, imaginative, and totally worth the play through.. Ok Gotta say if you are a fan of retro style games this will be in your wheelhouse of press the buy button. Its forward and to the point, but doesn't hold your hand either. Just like those games back in the day. Very remenicent of Dragon warrior. But one of the best things is the Dev is constantly checking his bug thread and communicates and tries to get those bugs swatted with furious vigor.. It definitely had that old timey game feel. The art is very good and the music is quite nice.

Hotfixes
- A bug causing save files not being able to load due to not having any equipment on.
- A bug that considered new weapons as level 0 and was not giving the player any stats.
- When crafting if you placed a Meteor first and then you placed any other crafting material like a piece of wood, iron bar, etc. it would cause the game to freeze.. Update 10.1:
Bug fixes
-An escape path was placed in the puzzle room right before Wetbeard in Spikey's ship. It was possible to get softlocked in this room.
-Hookshot animation bug fixed.
-Yes/No text display fixed.
Localization bugs:
-Spell names weren't showing the correct name.
-Several texts were not being translated.
. Knights of Tartarus full release next Friday, April 19.:
The final touches are being placed on Knights of Tartarus before release next week. Many have asked me if I will keep making updates for the game after release day. The answer is yes, the game will receive updates every now and then.
Currently, I'm trying to get the game localized in a couple of languages and I need all the help I could get.
