I got this during a 60% off sale just after the Spring update. I've no idea what it was like at release. For me, this is the most fun I've had with the series so far. It expands on the previous games and makes improvements while staying in the general theme. From reading reviews, it looks like people are mostly angry about there not being any pistols in the game, and the changes to map takeover progression. I don't give a hoot about pistols or chaos objects whatsoever, so bear in mind I'm looking for different things from most people. The main appeal of Just Cause for me is huge and detailed natural environments, varied NPC combat that uses lots of different vehicles, and use of the grappling hook to get around quickly. Just Cause 4 does really well on all those aspects, so for me this is a great game. There are some embarrassing bugs at the moment, though, and things that seem a bit unfinished (oceans, waterfalls, nighttime almost never arrives on its own). You may want to wait until more bugfixes have been released.. As a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd Just Cause games I was looking forward to this and I want to forget it exists. A Glitchy mess of poorly designed missions and undriveable vehicels.. Maybe if I was u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665 enough to not realize the entire game is basically just you doing the exact same thing over and over and over and over, this game would've been fun for more than the 1st few hours. The story is super forgettable, doesn't make a lot of sense, and the major draws in the gameplay get old quick as f*ck.. Every game leading up to this has had me extremely excited, I spent hundreds of hours in Just cause 2 on my old Xbox, had endless amount of fun in with Just cause 2 multiplayer. I awaited Just cause 3 every single day, searched through youtube for any rumours confirming the third game, and then when it finally arrived I was ecstatic. After years of enjoying these wonderful games, they instantly throw away everything that made them so great. At best this is a re-skin of Just cause 3, more prone to crashing, buggier, and not only that but holyu2665u2665u2665u2665u2665u2665is this game boring. Nothing makes me want to return to it, car chases end too quickly, no story characters to care for (I didn't expect this from a just cause game, the fun lies in the chaos and destruction) and its like it is trying to pull you away from the fun free-roaming with another boring transporting an NPC mission. "Blow up X", "Transport Y", "Kill Z" over and over again. This game had so much potential, all down the drain. I must however give credit where it is due. They got the destruction right, the graphics looks stunning, guns feel meh, but all the fun is gone. The current price of the game is absolutely too high for something that resembles a mod you could download from the Nexus. 3/10 Edit: It seems that the developers at least care, It does put a smile on my face that they at least care! Nice job team.. I wouldn't care about the sub par graphics if the game was actually stable. The gameplay is actually quite fun but the game crashes every 5-10 mins making it almost impossible to play.. Note: I'm reviewing the game after the Spring Update, which kinda of convinced me to buy the game. I really wanted to like JC4, franchise fan since the second, played dozens of hours to both 2 (which i also owned for PS3) and 3. I bought the 4th episode regardless of reviews frightening, but man this it's really bad. Graphically shallow and mediocre at best, even maxed out at 1440p, way worst than JC3 and with identical, if not worst, performances. PC port it's horendous, clunky menus, overcomplicated and poorly thought bindings (reload AND change weapon on the same button, no toggle for aim, really?), cinematics that look 720p (maybe they are, i wouldn't be surprised tbh). Just no guys, i'm sorry, this is a refund for me.. Really disappointing compared to JC 1 2 and 3.
