Heart Health Keep Your Heart Healthy With B Vitamins

Eating lots of vegetables and takingAdvanced CardioRXa daily B vitamin supplement is a really great way to boost your heart health. It has been discovered that high levels of homocysteine in the body will greatly increase the risk of having a heart attack. Homocysteine is one of a group of 20 amino acids which are used by the body to make protein. A good well balanced diet supplies these amino acids in the right amounts for good health. When the diet is out of balance however, the amount of homocysteine may increase to an unhealthy level.

If your diet is considerably deficient in vitamin B6 and folic acid, you may have high levels of homocysteine in your blood. Medical studies have demonstrated that high levels of homocysteine in the blood can cause hardening of the arteries, which may lead to stroke or heart disease. The way to counteract this is very simply to get more B vitamins in your diet, especially vitamin B6 and folic acid. The best sources of dietary B6 include, chicken, eggs, liver, pork, fish, soybeans, oats, rice, walnuts and peanuts. Sources for folic acid include leafy vegetables, beans, peas, yeast, liver and certain fruits.

As far as possible it is best to increase the vegetable sources rather than the meats sources for these vitamins, in your diet. If you travel a lot, eat in restaurants or otherwise have little control over your diet, a daily supplement of B6 and folic acid can provide the necessary quantities of these important vitamins in your diet. Fresh vegetables and fruit are the best way to go however. The role of exercise and eating foods low in cholesterol is very important in preventing heart disease. It is best to concentrate on an overall healthy lifestyle with plenty exercise and good diet in order to promote a healthy heart.

Because of the under-representation of blacks in the heart disease studies, the FDA has mandated greater minority inclusion in clinical trial. Now there are several medications that mitigate the multiple risk factors. Rimonabant, available in 2007 blocks receptors in the brain that help reduce the risk of heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. Others currently available are designed to raise HDLs (good cholesterol) and lower plaque. Dr. Taylor explains, "Patients' response is dose-dependent. African Americans tend to need higher doses to get better results and greater cardiac benefit.
