Hard Earned Shin Splint Treatment Advice Of A Long Time Sufferer

Most people think that Shin Splints are the problem, Arctic Blast Review  but in actual fact they are a symptom of other underlying problems that cause pain in your legs, specifically in the lower leg around the tibia (the shin bone).

Now, because most people don't understand what they are, they often treat for the wrong thing, which may relieve the pain in the short-term, but if they aren't treating the real cause they will find the pains come back, and often get worse over time.

For many years as a child this was the case with me, and my parents always told me it was just 'growing pains' and there wasn't anything more they could do. A little bit of education back then would have saved me years of painful legs.

What Causes Shin Splints?

They can be caused by irritated or swollen muscles, typically from overuse (very common in athletes), from stress fractures, and from 'flat feet (Overpronation, to give flat feet its proper name).

In most cases the pain in the shins is from the overworked or overstretched muscles.

What Are The Symptoms?

Most of the time the main symptom is pain on the front of the lower leg, which is sometimes accompanied by slight swelling. The pain will start of quite mild at first, but prolongued use of the muscles through continued exercise will increase the pain. At it's worst the pain becomes very sharp and acute and can last for hours after your workout is complete.

How Are Shin Splints Diagnosed?

Your family GP will be able to diagnose shin splints just from talking to you about your symptoms and the pain you suffer. In more acute cases they may also employ x-rays to rule out more severe conditions such as stress fractures.
