Too many of today's athletes get into a great deal of trouble because they have been taught they are above the rules that have to be followed by "mere mortals." Look at the number of professional athletes in legal trouble for charges of domestic violence, concealed firearms, physical fights, and an assortment of other charges. Unfortunately, there are also so many enablers at the very top of the food chain, and many are owners, so willing to protect their investment in the name of winning.

When the proverbial roof caves in, the athlete falls really hard and is discarded like a piece of trash. It certainly is not every high level athlete, but it is certainly too many, and we, as a society, created the psychological and physical rise and fall. Building emotional wellness (also known as emotional health) after surviving an abusive past may feel like an uphill battle. To begin to turn things around, here are five questions you can ask yourself.
