I challenge you to go sit on a bike. When is the last time you took a bike ride I can guarantee you will enjoy it. There are a couple of things to remember. One thing is that it IS worth it to wear one of those dorky helmets and it IS important to have lights (preferably red tail light that flashes) so you can be seen by cars. With these two pieces to the bike added you are ready to roll.
I suggest a ride of 15 minutes one way then turn around and head home. 20 minutes is the barrier to break for exercise to count towards your cardio count and that is depending on weather you break a sweat. The goal is to get the legs pumping and the butt warmed up with added upper body usage to steer.
Start with 30 minutes everyday for a week. Now come on- that is a sitcom's time and you can always catch what you missed on Hulu. So stand up- get out there and hit the road. I know in my state it is illegal to wear an iPod while riding but- with the helmet and tail light I figure it evens out the danger factor. Take a seat and ride.
