I haven't spent much time playing Don't Sink currently but the time I have spent has not only been a lot of fun but has also shown me just how much potential this game has, not to mention how much care has been placed in creating it. Essentially Don't Sink is a pixel-graphics pirate game. You sail the seas by selecting which island you want to sail to and along the way random events may occur, you need to take care of your crew's needs, and - of course - you may encounter ships (more than one sometimes, so be prepared!) to attack - or run away from - and board! BUT WAIT! Not only can you do this, but you can also build on islands as well as govern that island's economy, making money 'legitimately' as well as from your pirating ways. Want to do this on more than one island? Sure, you can do that! Want quests given by NPCs? Yep, those are there too. Oh, you want to buy new ships I hear you say? Oh yes, there are more ships to buy as well! In short, this game is a fun little pirate romp and the feeling of buying a new ship and decimating those ships you come across can't be described! :) You must, of course, keep in mind that the game is in Early Access and so there are some features not yet implemented in the game. I haven't, for instance, come across a way to fight myself when boarding a ship rather than having the AI do it (though this may be because I just haven't got that far yet!), and some little flourishes/additions like more to do on the islands, more to buy, upgrading of crew and ship weapons, and so on, would all be great updates. BUT, these things absolutely don't detract from the game - it is EA and the developers are constantly (and I mean constantly!) updating it and adding new content, tweaking the GUI, and fixing bugs. So I have high hopes that as the development of this game continues many more fun aspects of the game and even more things to do/customize will be added. But even as the game stands itself it is a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend this game and think it is worth a try for anyone who loves pirates or fun little adventures. As always, check out any game-play or LPs of the game on YouTube if you want a good idea of the game, its content, and how it plays. But for me, I will definitely be looking forward to how this game develops and enjoy playing it as it does.. German: Viel zu wenig Umfang. Spielt sich immer noch mehr wie eine Alpha. English: Too less content. Feels more like alpha then a full game .. Don't Sink is a game that is clearly a labour of love, but doesn't offer much beyond a colourful presentation. I found the control scheme to be unintuitive, and the UI lacks several key features such as an inventory/ship management screen, in-game time/day tracking (aside from listing the travel time required), and explanations for what factors affect the statistics of captured towns and what effect these statistics have on the towns. Similarly, no explanation is given for what effects the morale, hunger, and thirst have on your crew, if any, aside from causing them to die when it reaches zero. The depth of play is extremely shallow, even for a casual game, and the replayability is essentially nil as the game stands. The scaling of mission and encounter difficulty seems haphazard, with an end-game tier mission becoming available almost from the start of the game. Visually, it's a very nice game, but it's a shame that it lacks the gameplay depth to match. While I liked the game well enough to complete the little content that there is, I wouldn't recommend this game in it's current state to my friends.. I love these types of games but Don't Sink is a step above the rest. Don't Sink is the type of game where you can physically see your hours that you have put into the game. Whether is from ship upgrades, food, islands you capture or the monstrous amount of gold you can collect. The game can get slightly repetitive but that can be changed by going on one of the many missions that are avalible around the different islands, where you will be rewarded with gold. This game is an absolute blast to play if you have time to kill, grinding for the leaderboards or just want to chill on a game. I cannot recommend this game enough. With the frequent updates from the inspired Dev's, you are sure to enjoy make this purchase worth while.. This game is simple yet fun. It is in many ways like a tycoon except with adventure aspects. It handles the concept in a way that makes it fun to progress. The only problems this game has is the lack of more islands to explore and the amount of things you can be assaigned to do. I think there definitely should be some more updates that add more islands and more tasks that can be assaigned, as in from a shop manager or a recruitment center manager. Overall It's worth the money and it's a fun game.. Footage of the game: Don't Sink is an interesting idea for a pirate game. You manage a ship and crew while hopping from port to port. Various situations will arise as you travel, usually a pirate battle. You have a lot of supplies to manage like food, drink, cannon balls, planks, medicine, etc. Eventually you get to build an island and manage that as well. The game is still in early access, but I am really enjoying the game and its humor so far. Also the music is great. So I recommend it.. Great game. Great music. Great art.. A short little game about being a good pirate. Help other people out but also murder and pillage to run all of the islands? I don't know, everyone seems to think you're a good guy. You do some nice things to help people out. The game's pretty easy. Permadeath is optional, and you really don't get anything extra for doing it I think. It has nice pixel graphics, and just a few bothersome factors such as you have to stand to a certain side to talk to people, you don't know what you can interact with until you get into that certain spot, and that there's a lot of just sitting and waiting while you sail.

We've added a BOAT LOAD (pun intended) of new content. Three new quests each with unique gameplay that includes quest specific islands, music, and DOLPHINS . That's right there are dolphins involved. You will find quests in Yaleshka, a treasure island, and Danier. We managed to fix a few game breaking issues too so there's that to look forward to if your game previously caught fire upon creating a new character. Lastly and one of the most significant changes is the balancing of ships which I won't go into detail about.. Duke of Defense Is Now Available! : After Don't Sink I took a lot of time listening to feedback and did everything I could think of to improve on previous mistakes. Some of it was simple changes such as including custom controls and more story-based content. Overall what I learned was that I wanted to make a more tailored experience. One with memorable characters and humor. A lot of unique content instead of the rinse and repeat style of open-world game structure (not to say that is the case for every open world game). Duke of Defense is the first game I can say I am truly proud of. Topher (the musician/web developer behind Don't Sink) and I have poured every ounce of our being into this game. Even after we finished the game we sat and began work on additional post-game content. We would love to hear your feedback and find out how you feel about the new direction we've taken..
