About This Game

Ceress is sentenced to death, because she's in love with the 'wrong' person.
But stubborn as she is, she calls out to an old deity, demanding a chance to change this unrighteousness.

Can Ceress overcome death to be reunited with the woman she loves?

After Ceress is sentenced to death, she's thrown into an abyss. As she awakens she finds herself within a cave system, which soon turns out to be the realm of an old deity.
Ceress will have to prove herself worthy by traversing this death realm and solving the puzzles ahead of her, to finally get back into the world of the living and to return to her love Orea.

Along the way the player can discover several of Ceress’ memories.

Ceress and Orea is a bit of an adventure, a bit walking sim and a bit puzzler.

Lovely little romantic story following a woman's journey home to her lady lover. Loved the cheeky memories and the soundtrack, and you should be able to finish the game with all the achievements in one playthough (*HINT*HINT* unless you forget the 2nd key in the library *HINT*HINT*).

The game should run you less than an hour, but i forgot the game didn't have steam cards enabled (maybe one day? soonish?), so I left it running in the background.. This is a game that achieves it's aim of diverting the player for an hour with a simple story. It is easy to empathise with the plight of Ceress and Orea, partly as a consequence of their limited characterisation inviting you to fill in the gaps for yourself.

I can happily recommend Ceress and Orea to anyone who enjoys a little fantasy and has an hour to spare.
. Short and sweet. Good pacing. The story's absolutely great. O7. The art in the game is nice. That's nearly everything positive I can say about it.

The game itself is most completely an interactive story, which I wouldn't mind... if it weren't so incredibly bland.
Both the plot and the love story are very plain and boring. They lack any twists, any surprising features, any conflict or struggle to provide at least a little emotional response. Well, there is a clumsy attempt at conflict; however, there is just a single (hidden!) spot in the whole game where you get a brief mention why their love is "forbidden" (and no, it's not because they are both girls, it's much more stupid and makes zero sense). Without a proper unfolding of backstory it's really hard to empathize with Ceress.

The writing could help, but it's also as simple as the plot itself. Stupid mortal! Stupid mortal! Why do you continue to push our conveniently placed levers to open the doors and try to escape??

As a result, the game is totally forgettable.. Ceress and Orea is about two lovers who were forcefully separated by unimaginable mesures. Even so, nothing will stop Ceress from reuniting with Orea, not even death. We embark on a small journey filled with simple puzzles and amazing music. This game has a beautiful story and a greater message in whole.
